Mission Statement
Who We Are and What We Do We, the staff of the RÉS Foundation, create and operate institutions that address certain gaps in care and, through these institutions, reveal and make accessible the resources and opportunities for advancement that lie within every individual for homeless people and families. We build bridges between those with and without shelter. According to our Articles of Association, our objectives are as follows: "... To assist and rehabilitate individuals who are temporarily or permanently in difficult social and cultural situations, to support the institutions that care for, provide accommodation, and healthcare services (e.g., outpatient basic and specialized care, aftercare, etc.), to facilitate the creation and maintenance of services and special forms of care (e.g., rehabilitation homes, employment retraining, etc.), and to support the related theoretical and professional work..." Our public benefit foundation currently operates two institutions in Budapest to achieve the goals outlined in our founding document: 1. Transitional Home for Families with 40 Places (1173 Budapest, Összekötő u. 3., 258-58-95) We provide housing opportunities, comprehensive social, psychological, legal, and developmental-pedagogical assistance to families with children in crisis situations. Our goal is to map and develop the resources of the families admitted to the institution so that they leave the institution in a stronger, better position than when they entered, and positive changes occur in the children's lives. 2. Low-Threshold Women's Night Shelter with 35 (50 in winter) Places (1067 Budapest, Podmaniczky u. 33., 269-36-01) We provide basic services (sleeping, washing, bathing facilities, dinner, social work, activity-supporting programs, basic healthcare) unconditionally available to homeless women living on the streets. Our goal is to reduce the harm caused by homelessness, support survival, avoid deterioration, achieve improvement where possible, and support moving out of homelessness. In all our institutions, we perform work that addresses real needs and fills gaps, making us small but important players in the social and child protection system in Budapest. Our foundation operates with very limited resources, so we need to find supporters to continue helping the needy women and families living in our institutions.

In our institution, our staff is available 24 hours a day to assist families with their emerging problems and needs. Our Services: • Providing housing options (accommodation in separate living rooms per family) • Ensuring 24-hour on-call service by professional staff • Social work (using individual and community social work tools) • Crisis intervention • Legal and psychological assistance (a lawyer and psychologist are regularly available in the institution) • Supporting children's learning with the help of a special education teacher - individual and group development from early childhood • Counseling and assistance in administration when necessary • Providing essential items, food, and basic household items necessary for daily life (e.g., bedding, towels, utensils, furniture, if needed, diapers, medicines, etc.), cooking and laundry facilities • Organizing alternative programs to support parental and family activities for families and children • Providing internet access • Organizing and receiving volunteer programs • Facilitating contact with local and territorially competent service system institutions (e.g., nursery, kindergarten, school, family and child welfare service/center, child and adult general practitioner service, health visitor service, employment center, educational counseling, etc.) In developing our professional program, we considered the shortcomings observed in the care of families in crisis and designed our services in accordance with these and current legal regulations, aiming to continuously and flexibly respond to emerging needs. In designing our services, an important aspect is our commitment to ENABLEMENT and AVOIDING HOSPITALIZATION. Typically, no single reason can be identified at the time of entry; rather, institutional care and professional assistance are necessary and justified due to the complex appearance of problems. What is our goal? • Mapping problems and resources • Exploring opportunities • Determining development directions • Strengthening, involving, and enabling resources Our main goal is to strengthen and expand the internal resources of families in crisis during their stay with us so that they achieve changes compared to their initial situation. We encourage parents to strengthen their personalities to feel competent about their own fate, to increase their self-esteem, self-confidence, and belief in change. We consider it important to reduce psychological deprivation due to their bad situation, strengthen family relationships, and demonstrate different parental patterns (we have many opportunities for this in our volunteer programs). Moreover, we place great emphasis on increasing children's well-being, stabilizing, and developing their mental and physical condition. Our staff helps provide as many opportunities as possible for their development and the unfolding of their abilities. One of the main goals of our supportive work is, in collaboration with families, to enable them by developing and strengthening parental competencies. How to join? If we have available space, our staff meets the applicant family in an admission interview after submitting a placement request, discussing the family's current situation, what help they expect from us, what possibilities they have, and whether we are the ones who can indeed help them. Often, during the first interview, our staff can provide information and perspectives that help the applicant find a solution. After the admission interview, the professional team operating the institution decides on the entry, and we notify the families of the decision. During the admission process, based on the obligations set out in the care agreement, we primarily accept families from the service areas of the X and XVII districts' municipalities.
