Mission Statement
The Bliss Foundation, operating as a public service organization, was established in 1987 with the mission of inviting professionals to create opportunities for communication for speech-impaired children and adults in Hungary. As one of the first civil organizations in the country, it provided services, training, and education in the recommended field of special education and rehabilitation for individuals with communication disorders.
About This Cause
Thanks to more than 35 years of our foundation's work, today in our country, a wider audience is aware of and utilizes augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods and tools. Augmentative and alternative communication refers to supplementary communication methods, tools, and techniques. Individuals struggling with severe speech disorders can gain the ability to express themselves through AAC, such as eye gaze technology, communication software, communicators, and speech-generating devices. In our foundation, following a comprehensive assessment of communication skills for clients, we provide AAC therapy sessions in individual or group formats. Additionally, clients can benefit from movement development and physiotherapy. Our clients include those with congenital neurological injuries, accident-related injuries, individuals with strokes, those living with ALS, and individuals with autism. Without AAC, nonverbal people are isolated, trapped inside a body they cannot control, with no ability to communicate. Our mission is to give a voice to all people who need AAC and “make the unspeakable showable."
