Mission Statement
Empowering Women. Healing the Planet. One Cycle at a Time. At Eco Hub Foundation, our mission is to end period poverty, promote plastic-free menstruation, relieve period pain naturally, and empower rural women through sustainable livelihoods—all while protecting our environment. In India, over 23 million girls drop out of school every year due to lack of menstrual hygiene, and more than 12 billion disposable sanitary pads are discarded annually, generating waste that takes up to 800 years to decompose. We believe that menstruation should never be a reason for missed education, social stigma, pain, or environmental pollution. Our programs bridge the gap between health, dignity, sustainability, and economic empowerment by: 1. Distributing biodegradable sanitary pads to adolescent girls in rural and low-income communities, 2. Providing science-backed menstrual health education that is culturally respectful and stigma-breaking, 3. Offering natural period pain relief through yoga, Ayurveda, nutrition, and mind-body practices, 4. Empowering rural women by sourcing our Eco-friendly sanitary pads directly from women-led rural units, creating income opportunities and self-reliance at the grassroots level. Through initiatives like Project AASHRITHA and Project EASE, we are creating sustainable, community-led solutions to one of the most neglected public health and environmental issues of our time. We don’t just distribute pads—we build period-positive, planet-positive ecosystems that uplift girls, restore dignity, generate green jobs, and clean up menstrual waste. Because when a woman is empowered, her community thrives. And when her period is pain-free and plastic-free, the planet breathes easier.
About This Cause
Eco Hub Foundation Transforming Periods. Empowering Women. Protecting the Planet. Eco Hub Foundation is a Section 8 nonprofit organization based in India, committed to ending period poverty, promoting plastic-free menstruation, supporting natural period pain relief, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women. We envision a future where every girl and woman has access to menstrual dignity, education is never interrupted by menstruation, and the environment is protected from harmful menstrual waste. The Problem We Address: Menstruation is a natural biological process, yet in India, it remains shrouded in stigma, misinformation, inaccessibility, and environmental neglect. 1. Over 23 million girls drop out of school every year due to the lack of menstrual hygiene awareness and access to sanitary products. 2. Only 36% of women in India use sanitary pads; the rest rely on unhygienic materials, increasing their risk of infection and social exclusion. 3. India generates more than 12 billion disposable sanitary pads annually, which are non-biodegradable and take 500–800 years to decompose—causing severe harm to land, water, and wildlife. 4. Period pain (dysmenorrhea), affecting 70–90% of menstruating women, often goes unaddressed, leading to missed school and workdays, low productivity, and poor mental health. 5. Rural women, though skilled and resourceful, often lack economic opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the menstrual health value chain. Our Mission: To end period poverty, promote environmentally responsible menstrual practices, and empower women to manage their cycles safely, affordably, and pain-free—while creating a sustainable, inclusive, and equitable ecosystem that uplifts both people and the planet. What We Do: 1. Project AASHRITHA – Access, Awareness, and Dignity A flagship initiative to tackle period poverty in rural and low-income communities by: We distribute free biodegradable sanitary pads to adolescent girls in government schools and under privileged communities that are gentle on the body and safe for the environment. Our pads are: (a)Free from plastic, bleach, and harmful chemicals. (b)Designed for comfort and effective absorption. (c)Produced by rural women entrepreneurs, ensuring every purchase supports local livelihoods. Conducting menstrual health education workshops tailored to rural realities—breaking taboos, busting myths and building informed confidence. 2. Project EASE – Period Pain Relief & Wellness Program Project EASE addresses one of the most neglected aspects of menstruation: period pain. Our workshops integrate yoga, Ayurveda, nutrition, and meditation to help women and girls manage period pain naturally—without dependence on medication. The program is rooted in both scientific research and traditional wisdom, offering affordable, non-invasive, drug-free solutions for menstrual wellness. Designed for schools, colleges, and corporates, Project EASE improves overall well-being, reduces absenteeism, and promotes self-awareness and body literacy around menstruation. In addition to pain relief, the program raises critical awareness about the harmful effects of plastic-based sanitary pads. Most commercial pads contain up to 90% plastic, chemical fragrances, and bleaches—linked to skin irritation, hormonal disruption, and increased health risks. These pads also generate non-biodegradable waste, taking 500–800 years to decompose, and are a significant contributor to environmental pollution in India. Through interactive sessions, we empower participants to make informed menstrual choices—promoting eco-friendly alternatives. Project EASE is more than a wellness program—it's a step toward period-positive, plastic-free, and pain-free living. 3. Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment : At Eco Hub Foundation, we believe that true empowerment begins at the grassroots. That’s why we are committed to creating green livelihood opportunities by training and supporting rural women-led production units to manufacture biodegradable sanitary pads and wellness products. We actively procure these products from rural women entrepreneurs, ensuring they have consistent income, financial independence, and a sense of ownership in the menstrual health movement. This model: Creates sustainable income opportunities in rural areas Enhances self-reliance and decision-making power among women Builds confidence, dignity, and local leadership Our women-centered supply chain ensures the impact remains circular: From women. By women. For women. By integrating rural women into every step of our value chain—from production to impact—we are building not just products, but powerful ecosystems of change. 4. CSR & School Collaboration We work with Corporates, educational institutions, and local governments to implement: Menstrual health awareness programs Period pain wellness sessions Sanitary pad donation drives Sustainability education Our model fits seamlessly with CSR goals in health, education, and environment, creating measurable social impact.
