Project Geography: The project will be implemented in Bangalore, Karnataka, India Project Description: (i) Situation Analysis: In India, women are in the minority at university and in entry-level positions. The fundamental issue is educational opportunity. Education is important for everyone, but is especially significant for girls and women. Women account for one-half of the potential talent base throughout the world and therefore, over time, a nation’s competitiveness depends significantly on whether and how it educates and utilizes its female talent. The educational achievements of women can have ripple effects within the family and across generations. Investing in girls' education is one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty. Investing in higher education/tertiary education for girls, yields especially high dividends, this is where Fund a Child in India intervened. FCI supports first-generation learners, particularly meritorious young women from economically challenged backgrounds, in their journey to gainful employment in technology. FCI focuses on enhancing the employability of the girl students who come from lower-income communities and are pursuing professional education i.e., engineering, besides enhancing the aspirations, opportunities, and career prospects of enthusiastic and committed young girls. It does so by providing an enabling environment to enhance the employability of girl students pursuing engineering studies through specific interventions such as skill enhancement, STEM/Digital learning, and educational assistance. FCI aims to be a leader in the continual elevation and transformation of young women from low-income communities to lead change in their professional and personal spheres of life.
