Mission Statement
Shanthibhavan Palliative Hospital is dedicated to improve quality of life of palliative bedridden patients and gives relief from pain and other distressing symptoms. We also support life and keeping people as healthy as possible, regarding dying as a normal process. We don’t quicken or postpone death. We combine psychological and spiritual aspects of care and offer a support system to help people live as actively as possible until death. We assure the support system for helping the family to cope up with during a person’s treatment and in bereavement. We have a strong team to fulfil the needs of the person who is bedridden which will be a great blessing to their families. Our income is only from the donation, not from our services. We are looking for the public support to fulfil the dream to become a general hospital, so that we can provide the emergency care, casualty etc to all people nearby. We have opened our doors to the public, everybody can come and support our new projects. There are no barriers of religion, caste and creed.

Shanthibhavan Palliative Hospital The First Palliative Hospital in India. An excellent institution which is dedicated to the wellness and care of the deprived in the society. For the people, by the people is the prime motto which always rises by the hospital. In simple, this is an exclusive hospital with no bills and bill counters. Shanthibhavan palliative hospital, situated at Vattappara a suburban area of Trivandrum city in the state of Kerala, started in the year 2022 as a small step to a big dream with the blessings of Mar Andrews Thazhath, the Archbishop of Thrissur, and led by Rev. Father Joy Koothur, with the support of the nuns of Franciscan Sisters of St. Clare Congregation, today the hospital has become a centre of excellence in palliative care in India. All the palliative services here are completely free of cost for bedridden patients and old aged people who are suffering from various diseases. The hospital provides palliative home care on a regular basis for the patients who register their names in the hospital records. By visiting their home, the palliative volunteers including medical experts assure better care for their physical and mental health. A 24x7 emergency home care team is also available in the hospital. Patients, who don't get enough relief from home care, are brought to the hospital in hospital’s ambulance and provide better palliative care with the support of modern medical equipments. Presently the hospital is equipped with 49 beds and with almost all basic infrastructures. Each and every bed is attached with centralized oxygen system and suction facilities. The intensive care unit with ventilator facility is always ready to handle any type of critical emergency. Shanthibhavan's dialysis division is a blessing for poor kidney patients. It provides 8 free dialysis per day for poor kidney patients and bedridden kidney patients. The physiotherapy division offers exclusive caring for the patients who are paralyzed through accident or brain stroke. It enables the bedridden patients to sit, stand, walk and get into the vehicle through systematic training sessions. Free palliative hospital care for patients who are suffering from various cancer diseases, fluid tapping facilities for liver cirrhosis patients, free food and accomodation for in-patients and their bystanders are the few attractions offered here. That is why we can proudly say that Shanthibhavan is a "No-Bill" Hospital without bills and cash counters. In brief, Shanthibhavan is a unique and pioneer hospital in the sector of palliative care in India. Under the chief patronage of Thrissur Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath, a dedicated team includes Rev. Father Joy Koothur, the co-founder and CEO, and other founder members, administrative wing, many generous fellows from the society as patrons, moreover the support from the public, is the strength and unity of Shanthibhavan. We are in need of generous contributions from kindhearted people to boost our services for our bedridden patients. For Shanthibhavan, every life is precious and everyone deserves ultimate caring at their bad times. There are no barriers of caste, religion, or race.., Everyone is equal here... Yes, it is a light.! Light of compassion, kindness and eternal love.!!
