About This Cause
Drishti the Helping Hands Society : Empowering Visually Impaired Students Founded four years ago as a project at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Drishti the Helping Hands has grown into a dedicated NGO committed to transforming the lives of visually impaired students in Varanasi. Our journey began with a simple yet impactful mission: to find scribes for visually impaired students during their examinations. Today, we have expanded our reach and services, touching more lives and providing crucial support to help these students succeed. Our primary initiative continues to focus on providing scribes for visually impaired students, ensuring they have the assistance needed to excel in their examinations. This support has been pivotal in leveling the academic playing field and enabling these students to achieve their educational goals. In addition to our scribe services, Drishti the Helping Hands is dedicated to launching several empowering projects aimed at enhancing the skills and opportunities available to visually impaired individuals. Our programs include: Soft Skills Training : We offer specialized training in spoken English and computer operations, equipping visually impaired students with the skills needed to navigate the modern world confidently and independently. Audiobook Project : Recognizing the importance of accessible educational resources, our volunteers record textbooks and other academic materials into audiobooks. This initiative ensures that visually impaired students have access to a wealth of knowledge, fostering their academic growth and personal development.
