This programme includes in its purview awareness generation and training modules focusing on keeping the residential surroundings clean and hygienic for keeping diseases at bay. One of the most crucial programme of the Society for Rural Development has been Solid Waste Management which includes segregation and processing of the waste solids for their synthesis and production of vermicompost, this programme results in employment generation of the community population and effective waste management as a consequence of which, the communities become cleaner and liveable. SRD intervenes at the point of disadvantage and alleviates the suffering of the affected through its three-pronged approach of rescue-relief-recovery, following which the individuals are encouraged and helped to obtain their entitlements and utilize their rights by fulfilling their responsibilities. The individuals are provided with means of improving, restoring and maintaining their good health status and are enabled to find their inherent potentials and capacities which are honed and strengthened in terms of their capabilities through SRD’s skill building & training courses (programmes) which enable them in prospering their Independence and individual functioning by experiencing rewards of secured livelihoods through our job placement initiatives and transforming their lives through a more functional and productive lifestyle. SWM: Solid Waste management has been a major concern for our communities since decades. As the consumer sector is increasing, the facility to provide the commodities in secured and packed form is finding its relevance, but the accumulation of these packaging material has been a very big headache to the communities. Hence in the communities the community mobilization is initiated for collection, categorization, processing and synthesis of the solid waste material which results in raw material for further production process and vermicompost as a byproduct of few types of solid wastes. This byproduct, which is in fashion nowadays, has found its demand in the neighbourhoods due to the prevalence of terrace gardening and organic farming methods.Thereby creating a job market in the communities.
