Mission Statement

Chandra Rajeswara Rao Foundation for Social Progress" (CR Foundation), a society formed with No-profit motive, established in the year 1994 to perpetuate the memory of great distinguished legendary personality of India, Sri Chandra Rajeswara Rao. Popularly known as CR, he relentlessly fought for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. He continued his journey for emancipation of the toiling masses and struggled for social progress till his last breath. He had the unique honour of being the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India for quarter of a century. He was endowed with the coveted "Order of Lenin" and many other International Awards. To translate into deeds of his ideals and aims, the CR Foundation decided to take up a number of projects. The Government of Andhra Pradesh allotted 5 acres of prime land in Kondapur, Hyderabad near Hitech City. As a first step the CR Foundation has constructed "Home for the Aged" at Kondapur and it started functioning since 2nd October, 1999, the Gandhi Jayanthi Day. The Old Age Home being successfully run with more than 132 inmates in 118 rooms. It has a working staff of 26 people. Among the inmates of the Home are several Social workers who sacrificed their active life time for the toiling masses, freedom fighters, former legislators, intellectuals including retired professors, engineers, officers, and renowned journalists and doctors etc. Award from Govt. of Telangana: On the occasion of "International Day of Older Persons", the Government of Telangana, Welfare of Senior Citizens Department conferred its Award "VAYOSHRESTA SAMMAN -2019" to Chandra Rajeswara Rao Foundation for Social Progress at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad on 1st October, 2019. This award given to CR Foundation under the category of best institution providing best services to senior citizens. Neelam Rajasekhar Reddy Research Centre (NRR Centre): One of the main aims of the CR Foundation is to strive and encourage studies and research in Socio-economic and cultural reforms and scientific theories of socialism of various schools and thoughts. The research centre has been named after Sri Neelam Rajasekhar Reddy, who has sacrificed his entire life for the poor. The NRR Research Centre is established to cater to the needs of the CR Foundation with state of art library with more than 60,000 books ranging from Research in the history, economy, social life and culture of our State and Country. The Centre comprises a Seminar Hall named after Indrajit Gupta, veteran parliamentarian and former Home Minister of India, who succeeded Chandra Rajeswara Rao. The meeting hall accommodates 300 people and living space for scholars. Women’s Welfare Centre Mahila Sanskhema Kendram (Women Welfare Centre) - named after Arutla Kamala Devi, the legendary personality of heroic Telangana Armed struggle, Smt Gujjula Sarala Devi, who fought for the cause of women welfare and Smt Yarlagada Bhagyavathi, a women’s leader, was started on 6th November 2005 in the premises of C.R.Foundation. The vocational courses offered are: • Computer Training( M.S. Office, DTP & Tally) • Tailoring • Embroidery • Maggam Work • Tie & Dye & Block Printing Women who are being trained to show case their creative skills have come up with line of products called “Rustic Touch” which creates a platform to display and market for their products like embroidery& hand printed & dyed saris, dress materials, blouses, bed sheets, duppatas etc. This gives an opportunity for them to strengthen their financial status to improve the life standards of their families. . FTCCI Excellence Award: The FTCCI conferred its prestigious award in recognition of proven excellence and outstanding contribution in the area of Social Welfare Initiatives for Women Empowerment for the year 2020. Health Centre: A health centre is set up in the premises for which the family members of Late Nadella Lakshmiah donated the building, to serve the poor and downtrodden people in the neighbourhood apart from catering to the health needs of the inmates of Old Age Home. This health Centre is rendering its services to very needy people who are below poverty line by giving free consultations. Free medicines are being given by collecting from philanthropic minded people including doctors and pharmaceuticals. Health Centre is taking part in National Eradication Programme of Tuberculosis, which is called DOT. Eyecare Centre: The CR Foundation with the collaboration of LV Prasad Eye Institute established an Eye Care Centre in the premises. The services are completely free of cost and many deserving people are being benefitted in the centre.

Chandra Rajeswara Rao Foundation for Social Progress (CR Foundation) is a Charitable Society formed with Non-profit motive, registered in the year 1994 to perpetuate the memory of great distinguished legendary personality of India, Sri Chandra Rajeswara Rao. Popularly known as CR, Sri Chandra Rajeswara Rao was a great patriot who relentlessly fought for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden people. His dedication to the cause earned him the unique honor. He was endowed with the coveted "Order of Lenin" and many other International Awards. CR Foundation's charitable activities gained great support since its inception. A land parcel of 5 Acres has been allotted at Kondapur, Hyderabad by the then Chief Minister (Late Sri. N.T Rama Rao Garu) in the year 1994 for implementing the objectives of the society. The foundation has facilitated several social welfare activities and has been contributing social service activities since the year 1997. The projects and activities undertaken by the foundation are as below: 1. Home for the Aged: The first project taken up by the CR foundation was “Home for Aged” for which the foundation stone was laid in the year 1997 and the functioning of the institution commenced from the year 1999. The facility had about 118 rooms and 3 dormitories and one bed-ridden residents ward. The facility is currently providing shelter to 136 senior citizens aged ranging 70 to 99. Among the residents of the Home there are several social workers who sacrificed their lives for the welfare of the poor and for the betterment of the larger society; freedom fighters, former Members of Parliament, former legislators, intellectuals including retired professors, charted accountants, engineers, doctors, teachers, renowned writers, veteran film artistes and veteran journalists and other distinguished people. Covid-19 Pandemic: During the lockdown most of the hostels and old age homes were closed down by the managements and several old-age homes in Hyderabad have been struggling to look after the inmates. But the Management of CRF decided to protect the elders in the home and continue the facilities provided as before. And they are on safe side because of the restrictions imposed by the management, followed by the residents with self-discipline. 2. Women Welfare Center: Arutla Kamala Devi & Yarlagadda Bhagyavathi Women Welfare Centre established in the year 2005 provides vocational training for around 400 poor women every year (i.e. about 100 poor women were trained for every 3 months) in some employable skills right from its inception. The Centre has trained more than 12000 women from its inception. The training offered is Free of Cost as the focus group is poor and most vulnerable. The various training courses offered in the training center are Tailoring, Embroidery, Quilt bag Making, Jardousi Crafts, etc. As an extension of Women Welfare centers, CR Foundation has initiated Vocational Training Institute for providing soft skills and basic computer programs such as MS-Office packages, DTP, Etc for the poor women. FTCCI Excellence Award: The FTCCI conferred its prestigious award in recognition of proven excellence and outstanding contribution in the area of Social Welfare Initiatives for Women Empowerment for the year 2020. Hon'ble Minister Sri K.T. Rama Rao garu presented this award to CR Foundation on 23rd January, 2021 at a function in Hyderabad. 3. Neelam Rajashekara Reddy Research Center: Neelam Rajashekara Reddy Research Center is established to encourage studies and research among the youth and scholars who are into research in the field of Socio-Economic and Cultural reforms. Inaugurated in the year 2002, the facility has a State of Art library with more than 86,000 books. The facility also has a seminar hall with about 200 seating capacity. Large number of research scholars & students preparing for the competitive exams are utilizing this facility over the years. International and National Seminars as well as Guest Lectures are also being organized on the relevant subjects for the benefit of youth and intellectuals. 4. Health Centre: A health centre has been setup to provide better health solutions to treat the needy people in the area surrounding Kondapur at Free of Cost. The facility has been treating the general public and the needy right from its inception. The health centre also organizes medical camps on regular basis at several places with the help of its own and other doctors. Govt. health programs such as vaccinations are being implemented in the health centre with the coordination from local health officials. The centre is enhancing its services to multi-specialty health services including a diagnostic centre in the premises. 5. Eyecare Centre: The CR Foundation with the collaboration of LV Prasad Eye Institute established an Eye Care Centre in the premises. The services are completely free of cost and many deserving people are being benefitted in the centre. The CR Foundation has been successful in carrying the social welfare activities by upliftment of the poor right from its inception. The institution has gained recognition at domestic and international level for its exceptional services in the areas as mentioned above at its Hyderabad premises. The foundation has been decided to expand its activities to other states of India.
