OBJECTIVES- • To mainstream disadvantaged and people with disability through education,disability management including care and related services. • To build capacity of disability people for policy,networking,advocacy and lobbying to secure, promote and protect their rights and privileges, • To secure the livelihoods of people with disability through economic and empowerment. • To build community resilience through natural resource management and disaster risk reduction.
About This Cause
1)Home base educational and physical activity with children with disabilities ============================================================= Sri NrusinghaDevAnchalika Yuba Parisada (SNDAYP) working in community Based Rehabilitation (CBR mode) at community level. SNDAYP focusing on disability sector and try to uplift their life style as equal to all. The children with hearing impaired are receiving regular special education using sign language as mode. The cerebral palsy, locomotor, multiple, autism and intellectual disability has been facilitated good and need based education using different TLMs, but the physical weak children has been facilitated good therapy practices for their smooth movement and strengthening. 2)Centre base educational and physical activity with children with disabilities =============================================================== SNDAYP have technical and modern machines, equipped professional to provide good services for the children and person with need at their own centre. At centre the physiotherapist, occupational therapist, special educator CP & MR are providing need based support to the incoming beneficiaries to the centre. 3)Providing therapeutic services to Children with special needs =================================================== This is a project of social security and empowerment for persons with disabilities (SSEPD Govt. of Odisha) has been implemented by SNDAYP since 2016-17. This is specially a day care centre where the children with disabilities of the project area are coming to the centre and taking need based therapy for their physical consistency. It’s targeting 100 children for their smooth and collective achievement for their sustainability. 4)Community Awareness program ============================ As we are working for the sake of the community so this activity is more reliable and effective one for them. In connection to it we have delivering early identification, cause and prevention of the disability along with practical demonstration through videography and projector. Physiotherapy care and management also taught during the sessions. Sensitize the community people on KAP study, sanitation, hygiene, use of toilet and avoid open defecation. Use of sanitizer, mask, hand wash and social distancing during the pandemic Covid19 situation and this is also done through physically where it was accessible and also through whatsappgroup or phone calls etc 5)Special Educational support at school and AWC ======================================== SNDAYP specially working for the children with special needs so they required special care and education for their academic career. In this way SNDAYP field staff providing good education to the children with special needs as per their needs. They are maintaining assessment and goal sheet in every quarter to measure their improvement and this has been communicated /shared with the parents as well as the teachers/AWW. The CWSN are unable to learn or follow the books covered at their school level so in this situation SNDAYP staff providing the adapted and colourful picture materials/contents where the CWSNs are improve their interest to learn quickly and this also used both for the disable and nondisabled children. 6)The CWSNs needs more TLMs and Flash Cards for their easy understanding. The books are used having more contents and fewer pictures so they are very poor in content or sentence reading and understanding. In connection to it SNDAYP staffs providing very colourful, sizeable, maximum pictures and less content for their easy understanding.Different unused home materials have been used for the TLMs, where it’s less expensive for the staff as well as their caregivers/parents to do the activity in regular intervals. 7)Use of local materials for physiotherapy intervention ============================================ The CWSNs who have in regular practice of physiotherapy and other exercises at home, they are prepared the good use of local resources like bamboo, brick and mud for the better treatment of the child. The children coming to centre but this is not sufficient for their health. In this connection the experts of SNDAYP suggest the parent to prepare such practical items which will support you to bring the physical achievement quickly with your child. They are parallel bar, sitting chair and corner chair etc. 8)NILADRI NILAYA rehabilitation centre for 50 beggars with physical disability (PD) ================================================================== Puri is a holy place with the presence of world famous Lord Jagannath temple and sea beach. Where the thousands of pilgrims/tourist visted to puri, the beggars are begging in Puri is very tragedy and grief for Puri district. So the district administration implemented a project namely “NILADRI NILAYA rehabilitation centre for beggars” consisting of 5 NGOs of Puri district and out of them one is SNDAYP.This project has been running by SNDAYP in their own ASHA rehabilitation centre covering the target of 50 Physical disable beggars. Providing their daily meals and tifins, health checkup, medicines etc. 9)Rescue and Refer of Mental Ill persons under SAHAYA Scheme ==================================================== Puri is a holy place with the presence of world famous Lord Jagannath temple and sea beach. Where the thousands of pilgrims/tourist visted to puri, the Mental Ill (MI) person are wandering in Puri is very tragedy and grief for Puri district. Due to Puri is the last destination for the train root so the maximum mental ill persons wandering to Puri. The MI persons creating more disturbances like throwing pibbles, bricks, biting, kicking, spitting and spank to the persons visit in the streets. So in this connection with the support of district administration under SAHAYA scheme SNDAYP running this activity in Puri district. 10)Follow up of disable people organization and linkage =============================================== The disable people are 3% to total population so they are separately living in the community. As a result they have lacking in togetherness and unity to avail some positive impact on community. So in this connection SNDAYP have formed 125 DPOs with the guidance of Mission Khyamatain PuriSadar block of Puri district to make them a unity where they can lobby for their rights and responsibilities with the line departments and smooth living in the community. We have also linked them with the banks to improve their livelihood capacity by which the family burden will lesser and the financial dependency curtailed. We also facilitate 50000 thousand to 50 groups and 10000 for rest of groups with the support of OLM as revolving funds. 11)Follow up of Child Club both at community and school level ===================================================== To make the children develop their inner qualities SNDAYP has formed 30 child clubs in different schools in its project area. In this child clubs children perform different activities like drawing, painting, dancing, one act plays which make them more confident. Sometimes they perform some awareness rallies to aware the community people. Sometimes different competition like sports, debate, painting etc has been organised to develop their competitive minds. In schools they look after the children with disability and play with them. Sometimes when the CwSNs are not coming to schools they visit their homes and request their parents to let their child come to school. 12)Disaster Risk Reduction programs ============================== Puri is situated in coastal belts and more often it witness severe cyclone every year. Severe cyclonic storm destroys almost everything. To make the people prepared for any disaster different disaster risk reduction programmes has been undertaken to aware the people how to stay safe regarding this situation. In disaster times SNDAYP also facilitates nutritional foods, awareness posters, health services to needy beneficiaries. 13)Facilitating vocational training for the persons with disabilities ====================================================== SNDAYP also facilitating vocational training for the person with disabilities. With the interest of the persons SNDAYP has also organised many vocational training programmes to make the persons self-confident to earn for their family. Those children who are interested to undergo different vocational training SNDAYP facilitates to refer them different free vocational training institutes like RSETI,RUDSETI,NCSCDA, Centurian University etc. 14)Facilitation of aids and appliances for person/child in need =================================================== With the support of state government of Odisha and other donor’s supporting different aids and appliances for the children and person with disabilities for their smooth accessibility across home and outside. These are crutches, wheel chair, tri-cycle, CP chair, brail slate, MR kit and ball pull etc. 15)Livelihood support for needy beneficiary =================================== With those young persons with disabilities are doing the petty shops for their livelihood in this case we have provide them refrigerator, bittle shop, spare parts for cycle repairing, colour sprayer machine, tailoring machine, palm carving machine etc. for their good income and self-reliant. 16)Celebration & observation of days ============================== As we are working for the disability persons/children so we are observing the international day for persons with disabilities on 3rd December every year, deaf week for the deaf persons on every 3rd week of September, children’s day on November 14, September 5th Teachers day, independence day and republic day for the CWSNs just because to make them happy and a togetherness with their group of friends. As a result their internal qualities becomes more blossoms as well as they can amalgam with other children in the school and community.
