About This Cause

India Tribal Care Trust (ITCT) was formed in 2016 by a group of celibacy monks from ISKCON who have dedicated their life to the upliftment and social development of the tribals of our country. ITCT is registered under the Indian Trust Act and the deed registration number is IV-131500026/2016. At present ITCT is working in the field of education, health care, social care, empowerment & cultural care. We envision a pleasing, prosperous, healthy, educated and culturally rich life for tribal communities built on moral foundations and appropriate technologies that can sustain nurture future generations and prevent the destruction of tribal culture by modern materialism. Key Projects/ Assignments undertaken. Our Tribal Care Activities 1. To uplift the tribal from illiteracy and poverty we have opened up Pathshalas which are informal schools in villages where tribal children are provided education free of cost. 2. In last 8 years we have opened more than 150 pathshalas in tribal villages across West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Jharkhand & Odisha where more than 3500 tribal children get free education. 3. We are running 18 schools across Assam, Tripura, West Bengal & Jharkhand so that the tribal can live in their area and get the benefit of quality education. 4. The Education Department of Govt. of Tripura has allotted us schools that were closed or under the process of closure. We have already reopened 9 of these schools after major renovation and now hundreds of tribal and non-tribal children are studying in these schools. 5. ITCT is also supporting meritorious but economically weak tribal students by providing education scholarships. 6. We are also supporting a few tribal schools by providing financial support in building school rooms and other infrastructure. 7. We are providing mid-day meals for free in some of our schools and pathshalas. 8. In Assam and Tripura, we have built children hostel to accommodate poor and needy tribal children who want to come to town and study. 9. Tribal children are provided free education along with mid-day meals and necessary education amenities. 10. We are organizing health camps at regular intervals with the help of specialist doctors who voluntarily contribute their service and provide medicine to them. 11. ITCT is organizing free health camps in rural villages of Purulia, Jhargram, Bankura district of West Bengal, North Tripura and Charaideo district of Assam in collaboration with Health Department of the state governments. In our health camps, we provide free health checkups and distribute free medicines. 12. ITCT provides financial help for the economic development of the tribal through farming and handicrafts. We want to make sure every family is financially well settled. 13. Water scarcity is a serious issue in many tribal areas and to overcome this ITCT has taken the initiative to provide clean water in tribal villages by setting up water reservoirs to make their life easier. 14. ITCT is also running 4 vocational training centers in West Bengal, Assam, Andhra Pradesh & Maharashtra where tribal women are provided free of cost training on tailoring, and handicrafts.
