Mission Statement

WIF’s vision is to create a world where disadvantaged women, vulnerable children and communities have access to all basic amenities and are empowered to improve their quality of life . WIF’s mission is to design & implement integrated programs for wide scale replication by providing need based interventions such as awareness, literacy to women & children, health care, nutrition, skill development, income generation, shelter and drinking water, sanitation, prevention of violence on target groups vis a vis trafficking, child marriage, child labour, aged women, domestic violence , access to basic rights, consumer rights and redressal, promotion of rural ecotourism for livelihood and development .

About This Cause

Set up in 1990, Women’s Interlink Foundation (WIF) is a non governmental organisation working in the area of women’s empowerment and protecting the rights of the girl child. WIF has been actively implementing integrated Women, Child and Community Development Projects in Kolkata and 10 districts of West Bengal over the last 30 years.WIF was registered under the Public Charitable Trusts Act of West Bengal in 1992. WIF has been providing multiple need based interventions through a multitude of projects . WIF Developmental activities have mainly been in the areas of 1. LITERACY AND EDUCATION through integrated projects for women & children in red light areas and in slums, for street children in Kolkata and for rural children. WIF has 18 such centres in Kolkata. Besides, education is provided to all children in the 3 Shelter Homes managed by WIF 2. CHILD PROTECTION through integrated projects under Government Scheme Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS). WIF is running 3 Shelter Homes in Kolkata, Madhyamgram & Jalpaiguri. The Home provides shelter, education, nutrition and healthcare, as well as psychological counseling, recreational activities and vocational training to vulnerable girls and young women who are primarily girl children of red light areas, lost/abandoned girls, orphaned children, rescued victims of trafficking and violence and other ‘at risk’ girls. WIF is working continuously to make available opportunities and options for the empowerment and rehabilitation of these girls and young women. 3. ANTI TRAFFICKING through integrated projects under Government Schemes like SWADHAR and UJJWALA as well as multilateral funded projects in trafficking prone districts of West Bengal. Activities have included Counselling and Legal aid for women, providing shelter to rescued victims, vocational training and skill development for victim women, building community organisations / social action groups for vulnerable and at risk populations, legal & social measures to combat trafficking, wide scale dissemination of information in the community, amongst law enforcement officials , border security personnel through manuals, posters & other media, collaborations with grassroot organisations engaged in anti trafficking work and networking. 4. ELDERLY CARE through projects providing care and support to elderly women in the red light areas and constructing & running an Old Age Home in West Bengal 5. SKILL DEVELOPMENT & ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT of women through multiple projects on skill development in handicrafts for women from economically backward and marginalised communities, Facilitating market oriented design development, soft skills training, aiding market exposure, formation of Self Help Groups(SHGs) for financial inclusion and developing marketing linkages leading to income generation and economic empowerment for young women in 3 districts of West Bengal 6. RURAL TOURISM WITH FOCUS ON LIVELIHOODS FOR THE MARGINALISED through projects on skill development of tribal women & women from low income groups , minorities and linking them with marketing opportunities provided by promotion of rural tourism 7. HEALTH, HYGIENE, WATER & SANITATION through projects on drinking water & sanitation in collaboration with local municipality, panchayat and projects on Polio eradication and prevention of HIV/ AIDS in 3 districts of West Bengal WIF has been working at the grassroots level by collaborating at community level with local youth clubs, CBOs, SHGs, Panchayats, Law enforcement agencies, Government bodies, local NGOs and also International agencies. Funding partners have been Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India Government of West Bengal -Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Directorate of Child Rights and Trafficking, Directorate of Social Welfare Union Ministry of Tourism National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) Core-UNICEF, European Commission, TDH-Suisse, USAID, GOAL of Ireland, British Deputy High Commission, PACT of UK, DFATD-Government of Canada, Anja Finckh-Pradip Partner Worldwide Germany, Helpage India, Her Future Coalition-USA, The Village Experience-USA, Dr. Hans Alzinger-Germany, Tech Mahindra Foundation and many many others. WIF enjoys tax exemption under Section 80-G and 12A of IT Act. WIF has FCRA approval . It is also registered on the DARPAN portal of Govt. of India. WIF is registered with the Ministry of Company Affairs (MCA) for undertaking CSR WIF has successfully cleared the Due Diligence exercise carried out by Donors periodically.
