Mission Statement
Our mission is to bring about a constructive lasting change in society-- an inclusive society that embraces differences as well as diversity. It is our vision to build a sustainable future for all, guided by our vision of a better world, a world free from social evils such as Trafficking, a world where everyone is treated equally and with respect. We firmly believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive, regardless of their socio-economic background, limitations, differences, and/or circumstances. We seek to create a nurturing environment that fosters self-confidence, and a sense of belonging.
About This Cause
Rescue and Relief Foundation is a nationalized NGO founded in 2013 and registered in 2016. We strive to ameliorate the condition of women and work towards the issue of Child Trafficking, following the four integral steps (Prevention, Protection, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration). Our work also focuses on the education and basic rights of every child, especially educating children of sex workers, to prevent second-generation prostitution. Our organization was born out of the collective passion of a group of individuals who recognized the urgent need to address the pressing challenges faced by underprivileged and needy people. Our dedicated team of social workers works hand in hand to extend beyond providing only the basic necessities; we assist by providing education, mentorship, counseling, and recreational activities, ensuring that the children thrive in an atmosphere filled with love and care. To combat Sexual exploitation and abuse, we follow four integral steps of Prevention, Protection, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration/ Livelihood: Swadheen is started as a Prevention Programme, in collaboration with the Baruipur District Police, to create awareness and sensitize the youth on Trafficking and Child Marriage, through Self-defense Training. Our Protection Programme conducts rescue operations, with the assistance of Mission Mukti Foundation and AHTU (Anti Human Trafficking Unit), along with the concerned states’ police. Rehabilitation and Livelihood programs include: We have an Institution Facility or The Home for victims of Trafficking and children of women already involved in the profession. It shelters and provides all the necessities to them so that they can get back to the mainstream of society. We also have Crisis centers and Drop-in centers where children of both sex workers and other slum dwellers nearby are assisted with education so that they remain out of the vice and lead a normal healthy life. We are also working for POCSO children (children who are victims of domestic abuse and sexual harassment). They are given shelter and all the necessities in our Tollygunge Project- Keertika Home. NEW INITIATIVE: Opportunity Cafe is a visionary step to build an ecosystem that cradles the belief of a transformative tomorrow. A non-profit cafe that inculcates acceptance for special as well as abandoned/abused individuals in society who otherwise are bullied and stereotyped even in terms of the bare minimum jobs. The cafe serves as the perfect opportunity to eradicate stigma related to specially-abled individuals and work on employing them. It is also an opportunity for society to be able to witness the beauty in diverse abilities. On 23rd of January '24, Rescue and Relief Foundation inaugurated Opportunity Cafe & Co-works, a platform where every individual feels valued and empowered, creating a nurturing environment that fosters inclusivity. We humbly invite you to come visit and experience the magic that this place has to offer. For updates, please visit: https://instagram.com/cafe_opportunity?igshid=MTk0NTkyODZkYg== In addition to these, we have Orphanage and Elderly care homes, Youth Rehabilitation Homes, and a home for Special children, where we aim to also provide them with a suitable job so that they can be independent as well and we can take in more children like them. Other than this we run and support projects for the treatment of children affected by cancer, many vocational training programs at some of the aforementioned projects. Awareness through Campaigning and Talk in various Government sectors and renowned Institutes: We are trying to generate more awareness among the people about the enormity of the problem concerning trafficking. Lives Impacted: It is with great pleasure that we would like to share our successful rescue operations which made it to the editorials of The Times of India, The Telegraph, Jaipur Times, and a few other gazettes.
