Mission Statement

Our Mission - Is to create a platform which is safe and inclusive space for young people to access opportunities of learning and self-development.

About This Cause

Rubaroo is a youth development organization based in Hyderabad since 2014. Rubaroo - simply meaning to come face to face, with myself, society and issues around me, which include - my choices, my values, my fears, and everything that becomes a part of my identity. Rubaroo aims to be an empowering space co-created by young people to understand themselves better, nurture relationships, understand social issues, and take action in society to become socially conscious leaders in their own capacity. Some of the thematic Rubaroo focuses on are Interfaith, Gender, and Youth Development, especially in Educational spaces - within schools and colleges, connecting classroom learning with the realities around young people. While working on these issues, the underlying conversation is about the life experiences of a young person which includes their different identities such as faith, gender, caste, ethnicity, and socio-cultural background. Our programmes help young people to explore and probe into their as well as others history, cultural heritage and faith and recognize the common threads that transcend the boundaries created in their beliefs by the different identities they associate themselves with. Therefore, a young person first recognizes and identifies these boundaries and then slowly finds empowering ways of moving above them to look at all people with no boundaries. These often include social action projects, heritage walks, learning sessions, gallery walks, food festivals, public events, public rallies, and social experiments in public spaces. These activities are an opportunity for youth to design and lead exciting projects for social change that they want to see in the world around them. In 2016, our co-founder Neha Swain was the recipient of the Queen's Young Leaders Award. In 2017, Monisha Vemavarapu received the Balika Bandhu GAA Awards from Tharuni Organization and was part of International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP) in 2018, supported by the US State Department for our contribution and work at Rubaroo. In 2019 Rubaroo was awarded the Best Start-up in Telangana under Youth Empowerment by Bala Vikasa. Our Vision - Is to create an inclusive, just, and equitable world where individuals transcend boundaries through a genuine engagement with the self and the society.
