Mission Statement

To provide and prepare resources for modern and professional health-care to the community equitably.

About This Cause

Charutar Arogya Mandal was set up in the year 1972 by the late Dr. HM Patel, India’s former Finance and Home Minister, to create an example of how the health-care needs of the rural community can be met. What has emerged over the years, is an institution that has created facilities and health-care infrastructure for a rural community that match with the best of those available to their urban counterparts and a network of educational institutions that graduate hundreds of health-care professionals. Starting with a small nursing school, the Mandal has added a host of educational institutions serving the field of medicine over the years, such as a Medical College, College of Physiotherapy, College of Nursing, Institute of Medical Lab Technology, and the CAM Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Technology. For patient care, its flagship Shree Krishna Hospital serves as Charotar’s largest and most well-equipped health-care facility. From its humble origin as a 136-bed health care facility, Shree Krishna Hospital, managed by the Charutar Arogya Mandal has grown to a 1000-bed NABH accredited institute today, which, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities renders professional services. It has been able to serve the community with a vision of, "Solace for the Suffering", envisioned by its founder Chairman, Dr HM Patel. We have added new features to our cap recently by adding an advanced CATH lab with high-tech echo machines to our Cardiac Centre and just recently the Hospital has added a new Linear Accelerator (LA) and PET-SCAN facility to its cancer treatment facility. The motto of 1000-bed NABH accredited Shree Krishna Hospital is to provide “Solace to the Suffering”. So far we have extended our service to over 8.5 million patients, with empathy and personalised care. Now we serve, annually over half a million patients under OPD, and 67 thousand patients in the wards. To make health-care affordable, for outdoor consultations, we offer free registration and medical advice. Since April 2017, for indoor patients (excluding ICU and Emergency services), the hospital started it unique facility named Aashirwad. In addition, the Mandal collaborates with the Government for schemes such as Ayushman Bharat. However, the reimbursement obtained under government schemes covers a small part of the overall treatment cost in most procedures. In addition, health-care services provided by us at the Secondary Health-care facility at Sevaliya and four extension centres also bring succour to the needy. The various welfare programmes that the Hospital has undertaken like the one under which Tejalben is a beneficiary, has placed a large burden of costs on its resources, about Rs 39.4 crore last year. We have been able to provide much of this support through generous and continuous contributions we receive from donors like you. As a policy: “Those who are indigent and not in a position to pay for their treatment are not turned away just because they cannot afford treatment costs”. They are provided uniform quality treatment.
