Additionally, through the television show Galli Galli Sim Sim, SWI has reached 35.6 million children in the last one year.

About This Cause

Sesame Workshop India Trust is leading the movement to change the early childhood development paradigm in India through its innovative projects that put children at the center of development. Sesame Workshop’s vision of creating a better world for all children is stemmed in the belief that a strong foundation and investment in early childhood will pave the path to a better future for young children and help them reach their full potential. Our programs verticals are – education, health & nutrition and water & sanitation with gender as a cross cutting theme. SWI’s programs bring lessons about literacy and numeracy, health, and emotional well-being to children and families, particularly in marginalized communities, with content that facilitates their basic academic skills along with lessons on staying healthy and happy, staying safe, appreciating differences and resolving conflict, caring for the environment and resources through stories, songs, and games that engage and entertain them. We focus on the holistic Development of children from the ages of 3-8, putting children are at the center of all our programming. We work extensively in low-resourced schools (including Anganwadi Centres) and communities, from one-room rural schools to densely packed urban slum streets in India. Our approach is inclusive, welcoming children regardless of gender, nationality, religion, or ethnic identity. Children are given the opportunity to play and learn in a safe environment, using locally sourced materials and special localized content.
