The Mission of the organization is to ensure the socio-economic development of people living in rural areas especially from an alienated section of the society by using Land-Water Development and Management, Agri and allied livelihood activities involving applied education through community-based institutions keeping people at the core of decision making and action.

About This Cause

Yuva Mitra is a non-profit, secular, and non-political organization registered under the Bombay Public Charitable Trust Act and the Societies Registration Act (1860), as well as the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. It operates under a people-centric approach to development, empowering people to become agents of social change by working with them on issues that concern them and implementing pro-people programs. These programs focus on key sections of society, such as children, youth, women, and farmers, and are carried out with the village as the main focus. Yuva Mitra envisions a developmental process for the alienated sections of the society, where people are at the core of its decision-making and action, beyond the model of welfare schemes. Goat of Yuva mitra is to Ensure the Socio-economic development of 1 million unique households through the promotion of Land, water, Agri, and allied activities in India in the next 10 years, ensuring a minimum income of Rs.1 LPA (at current prices) for every HHs. Yuva Mitra is a non-profit organization with 28 years of experience in driving rural development across India. Yuva Mitra actions centres on empowering marginalized communities through various initiatives, spanning Water Resource Development and Management, Livelihood and Skill Development, Health & Education, and Institution Building and Sustainable Agricultural. With a strong presence in Maharashtra and Haryana, we have impacted over 1,40,000 families. Our focus on people-centric decision-making is at the core of our approach. Yuva Mitra is working towards shaping the sustainable Development for Small & Marginal Farmers, Tribal Communities, Women, Children & Adolescent Groups through strategic intervention with people centric approach across Maharashtra benefiting more than 1,40,000 families Over the past 28 years, Yuva Mitra has worked in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana with Core Interventions and 10 other states with Knowledge Partnerships, Training, Handholding and Technical Support. Yuva Mitra envisions development process centered on people, especially those from marginalized sections of society, where their involvement in decision-making and action is prioritized over a welfare-based approach. Mission of Yuva Mitra is to promote the socio-economic development of rural communities, particularly those from marginalized sections, through land-water development and management, agricultural and related livelihood activities, and education, all while keeping people at the forefront of decision-making and action. Goals of Yuva Mitra aim to ensure the socio-economic development of 1 million unique households in India, with a target of achieving a minimum income of Rs. 1 LPA for each household in the next 10 years. Yuva Mitra addresses a wide range of critical issues and vulnerabilities, encompassing poverty, hunger, and malnutrition, maternal and child health, menstrual hygiene, life skills development for students, water sanitation and hygiene in schools, climate change impacts on agriculture and human health, land degradation, biodiversity loss, water scarcity, livelihood opportunities for marginalized farmers, gender equality, migration, lack of awareness among farmers, women, and adolescent girls, hygiene among students, groundwater depletion, drought, natural calamities, and water resource management issues. Yuva Mitra endeavours to contribute by implementing targeted interventions and programs in verticals of Water Resource and Development, Livelihoods and Skill Development, Institution Building, and Sustainable Agriculture, aimed at addressing these issues Yuva Mitra was founded in 1995 with initiatives like Balmitra and Nisarg Mitra, aimed at improving rural children's skills and protecting biodiversity, respectively. Since then, we have focused on water and livelihood development, including the revival of defanged DBI systems and participatory irrigation management through the formation of Water User Associations. Additionally, Yuva Mitra has expanded its focus to create livelihood opportunities for landless families through Goatery-Based Livelihood for Women and has broadened its scope through the Jalsamruddhi program and water development activities. Organization has strong approach in Health & Education portfolio through implementation of Malnutrition eradication Arogya Mitra, menstrual hygiene and management, WASH, and children education Barakhadi express program. We have special focus on Nandurbar District with Lakhpati kisan & Tribal Development Fund project with Shabari Mahamandal and NABARD respectively for nurturing sustainable ecosystem for tribal community. Yuva Mitra is appointed as a Recourse Support Organization by NABARD for the development of Farmer producers Organization in Maharashtra state. Yuva Mitra is working for an institution-building of farmers like WUAs, FPC/FPOs, Farmers clubs, and Joint Liability group.
