Mission Statement
The focus of our work is on supporting the poorest and most disadvantaged children and women, particular people from tribal communities, Dalit people and those from lowest castes. There are roughly equal numbers of boys and girls in our Childcare, Education, Home Sponsorship programs and equal male/female ratios in our Clinical programs. Our Community Development program and Tailoring Training is focused on improving the economic well-being of rural women thus having an impact on the family as a whole.
About This Cause
Reaching the Unreached (RTU) is a highly successful and far-reaching, grassroots organization offering a range of services to empower some of the most marginalized and deeply impoverished people in rural villages in the west of Tamil Nadu. RTU was founded on 1974 by Brother James Kimpton, a De La Salle Brother, and was registered as a Society (no.42) dated 18th September 1978. RTU operates in a radius of 50km from our main base in the village of G. Kallupatti. The core of RTU’s work takes place in Theni District which is our target area and the focus of most of our programmes. However, people in need access RTU services from a large area of Tamil Nadu, particularly those children who are HIV+. Our main priority is to empower abandoned children, children who are HIV+, and children from HIV/AIDS affected families, and provide them with a supportive family life and the means to an independent future.
