About This Cause

TARA Child Protection and Empowerment, operating in South Delhi under the Indian registered Trust ONYVA, has been a dedicated force for child welfare since its establishment in 2009 by Pascal Fautrat, a French social worker and child protection program director. For over 15 years, TARA has positively transformed the lives of countless vulnerable children, offering refuge and support to those exposed to abuse, exploitation, and violence. The program promotes inclusivity, education, gender equality, and future professional integration for these children, ensuring a safer, more hopeful future. Key Programs: • TARA Residential Care: Homes for Children As a last-resort measure, children in need of care and protection are placed in TARA Homes by judicial order. TARA operates three homes: TARA Tots, TARA Boys, TARA Girls. Each home offers a family-like environment focused on rehabilitation, protection, education, empowerment, and health care for children who have suffered severe abuse. TARA Big Birds is an after-care program for young adults who grew up in TARA Homes. It assists them in pursuing higher education and or vocational training, and part-time jobs. The young adults who grew up in TARA, like many Children and Children their age, have to learn how to handle their adult life while studying and working at the same time. They live in an independent flat and are gradually encouraged to gain independence and contribute to their daily expenses. Meanwhile, TARA provides them with material, psychological, and educational support until they are self-sufficient. • Family-Based Care: The TARA Outreach Centres (TOCs) works within the community to identify and support at-risk children and families, offering education, health check-ups, counseling, and awareness of fundamental rights. Families also receive assistance with legal documentation and accessing government benefits. TARA has two centres one at Saidulajab and Sanjay Colony. • Capacity Building: TARA Training Centre (TTC) provides coaching and grooming to caretakers and professionals of Child Protection. It functions as per the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 & relevant governmental regulations (e.g., Child Protection Policy, Hygiene Policy, Media Policy, Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Code of Conduct, Accounting Policy, etc.) and ensures that they are strictly adhered to by all our associates. • Family Strengthening Program: TARA Family Intervention (TFI) is the latest initiative, in collaboration with Delhi’s Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), focusing on family strengthening to prevent institutionalization and protect at-risk children from exploitation or abuse. This proactive program aims to support vulnerable families in crisis, safeguarding children’s well-being and helping them avoid harmful situations.
