About This Cause
• A Brief Overview: ARVI Trust is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1995. It empowers people with disabilities in Tamil Na du, India, through education, vocational training, and community living. ARVI Trust was established by Dr. A. Ramachandran, a special educator with over 27 years of experience. • Early Intervention and Special Education: • One of ARVI Trust's key areas of focus is early intervention. They manage Early Intervention Centers (EICs) that provide specialized education for young children with hearing impairment, laying a strong foundation for their future development. Additionally, ARVI Trust operates several special schools catering to children with intellectual disabilities, offering comprehensive programs that include early intervention, specialized therapy, and essential support services like transportation and meals. • Home-Based/Community-Based Rehabilitation: • Recognizing the diverse needs of PwDs, ARVI Trust extends its support beyond traditional education. Their Home-Based/Community-Based Rehabilitation (HBT/CBR) program empowers children with severe intellectual disabilities who cannot attend regular schools by providing training to caregivers, direct intervention services, and reintegration plans. • Healthcare Access: • Healthcare access is another crucial aspect of ARVI Trust's work. They champion the Niramaya Insurance program, which provides PwDs with a safety net through access to essential medical treatments and accident coverage. This initiative ensures peace of mind and improved well-being for individuals and their families. • Specialized Therapy Programs: • ARVI Trust also offers specialized therapy programs, such as Multimodal Therapy for Autism. This program addresses both core symptoms and daily living skills, empowering children with autism to navigate life's challenges and reach their full potential. • Inclusive Education and Vocational Training: • For individuals facing educational challenges, ARVI Trust's Eklavya Open School provides a lifeline. This school caters to learning-disabled individuals, dropouts, overage learners, working individuals, and those with social difficulties. It offers flexible learning options and personalized support to help students overcome obstacles and achieve their educational aspirations. • Special Education on Wheel: • ARVI Trust's commitment to empowering PwDs extends beyond traditional schooling. Their Special Education on Wheels program provides special education, speech therapy, physiotherapy, and communication skills training directly at the doorsteps of children. This program goes beyond education by creating awareness among parents and communities, facilitating mainstreaming when possible, and linking eligible children with essential government schemes. • Arvi Farm School : • Arvi Farm School is a special place where people with disabilities can learn and grow. It's like a big farm where they can live, work, and learn together. People of all ages can live there and help each other. They can learn how to farm, enjoy nature, and feel good about themselves. If you want to help make this place better, you can join Arvi's community. • Tribal development: • Recognizing the unique challenges faced by tribal communities, ARVI Trust works to empower tribal people with disabilities through awareness programs. They organize workshops to educate tribal communities about government schemes and benefits available in education, social development, entrepreneurship, and employment. These initiatives empower tribal communities to access resources and improve their well-being. Conclusion: ARVI Trust is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities in Tamil Nadu, India. Through a variety of programs, ARVI Trust provides education, healthcare, therapy, and vocational training, helping individuals with disabilities to live more fulfilling lives and contribute to society.
