Mission Statement
The Salem Don Bosco Anbu Illam Social Service Society is a non-governmental organization committed to enhancing the well-being of children, young adults, women, migrants and disadvantaged populations. VISION: Creating a Society - just, equitable and safe for 'Young at Risk” MISSION: 1.Institutional care and protection processes and systems for Young at Risk with focus on provisioning care homes first and reintegration of children with family environment next with total recovery process. 2.Creating access to basic services- especially education and health for all children who have been deprived off with the appropriate opportunities and avenues. 3.Creating access to productive sources-inclusive of livelihood entitlements for the families by enabling them to acquire life skills and acquisition of vocational art-crafts and facilitate them to earn new income and resources so that they could protect vulnerable children and young and create an enabling environment. 4.Collaborate with the Government bodies to facilitate access to welfare measures and social protection schemes with community- centred empowerment towards realizing sustainable development 5.Work towards a safe environment for children with intergenerational principles and sensitize children and youth for an ecologically resilient society. 6.Networking with Civil Society Organizations-CSOs, child-rights NGOs to create a wider, constructive public opinion and to evolve child-friendly policies, systems and structures.
About This Cause
The Salem Don Bosco Anbu Illam Social Service Society (DBAI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that has been dedicated to the well-being of children, youth, migrants and women, as well as community development since its inception in 1988. Our primary aim is to establish a just and equal society where everyone has a chance to thrive, with a particular focus on empowering at-risk youth. For over three decades, DBAI has been committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals and communities. Our programs and initiatives aim to address the root causes of social disparities and provide sustainable solutions that foster long-term change. By promoting education, environment, skill development, and community engagement, we work to ensure that every child, young person, and woman has the opportunity to reach their full potential. The key components of our approach include: Collective Action, emphasizing education, Holistic growth of young people, short term and long-term interventions, Participatory Approach, Advocacy approach, Holistic Intervention, Research based approach and Child friendly approach. DBAI aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals by addressing poverty, hunger, health, and education, environment, promoting alternative energy, clean water, by empowering women, promoting economic growth, reducing inequalities and creating sustainable communities. Children rescued 53,698+: DBAI has been successful in rescuing numerous children from hazardous situations, such as child labour, trafficking, and other forms of exploitation. These efforts have helped protect vulnerable children and provide them with a safe environment to grow and thrive. 2. Children integrated into family 52,298+: Our organization works tirelessly to reunite rescued children with their families, whenever possible. We believe in the importance of family support and nurturing relationships for the holistic development of children. 3. Institutional care given 3500+: In cases where family reunification is not possible, DBAI provides institutional care to ensure the well-being and safety of the children. Our facilities offer a supportive environment that promotes their emotional, physical, and intellectual development. 4. Women empowered 11,458+: Through vocational training, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to healthcare and education, we have enabled women to improve their lives and those of their families. 5. Households accessing welfare schemes 14,248+: We assist families in accessing government welfare schemes and other available resources, ensuring they receive the support they need to overcome poverty and improve their quality of life. 6. Training programs 1,35,640: DBAI offers various training programs to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in today's world. These programs include vocational training, life skills development, and education in various fields. 7.
