Ashray Akruti was born from this belief in 1996, beginning as a modest initiative and growing into a beacon of hope for persons with disabilities. A non-governmental, non-religious organisation, it has tirelessly worked to empower individuals with hearing impairments and other disabilities, ensuring they are not just seen, but heard, valued and given every opportunity to succeed. By fostering an inclusive environment, Ashray Akruti provides crucial support in Education, Health Care and Skill Development. The organisation’s unwavering commitment ensures that individuals can lead independent, dignified lives while making meaningful contributions to society. Ashray Akruti is proud to be a CSR1 organization, a Member of the WHO and recognised as the Best NGO of 2024. COLLEGE FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION Enabled 103 professionals to become the catalyst for the hearing-impaired community. MSC - MY SIGN CHALLENGE 2000+ participated in the ongoing challenge to increase the usage of Indian Sign Language. INCLUSIVE EDUCATION Empowered 460 hearing-impaired children through collaborative education. E-LEARNING Reformed 20,000+ students through online education. PARTNERSHIP WITH GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS Empowered 391 children with disabilities from government and residential schools by fostering corporate collaborations. SKILL DEVELOPMENT MULTIMEDIA & ANIMATION TRAINING CENTRE Vocational training for 900 hearing-impaired youths, provided 465 employment opportunities as well. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SIGN LANGUAGE AND TECHNOLOGY Inspired 100 women through Indian Sign Language and technology. HEALTH CARE COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME Transformed the lives of 1,70,000 beneficiaries through hearing and ear screening by reaching communities high and low. NEW BORN HEARING SCREENING Screened 12,000+ toddlers, ensuring early interventions and detections. CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRES 971 special children benefited with therapies at the rehabilitation centres. AUDITORY-VERBAL THERAPY Boosted 230 children’s potential of speech and listening skills. HEARING CLINICS Provided hearing needs for 26,000 patients through the clinics. COCHLEAR IMPLANT SURGERY 269 children with hearing impairment can listen to the world now. EARLY INTERVENTION 150+ infants got a finer start without any delay. INDIAN SIGN LANGUAGE TRAINING 15,350 corporate employees coached with prerequisite Indian Sign Language to promote inclusivity. Objectives • Enhance educational opportunities for hearing-impaired students with Special Education services and integrating them into mainstream institutions. • Utilize technology for educational enrichment through the E-Learning PAN-India project and DLISD (Digital Learning Initiative in Skill Development), delivering accessible, quality education while standardizing the use of Indian Sign Language (ISL) nationwide. • Promote Inclusive Education through partnerships with government schools. • Strengthen Partnerships with Government Schools to mainstream children with special needs and ensure continued support. • Train professionals required for the disability sector through various professional courses such as D.
