Mission Statement

EnAble India [EI] is a non-profit organization working for the economic independence and dignity of persons with disability since 1999. It is considered a pioneer in employability and employment of persons with disability. Collaborating with 725+ companies across 26 cities in the private and public sector across India, placed 3500+ PwDs directly. Additionally, through consultancy and capacity building of partner NGOs, has done training and placement of several more thousands. EnAble India also provides holistic solutions and services to companies who employ the disabled. It is the founding member of DNA (Disability NGOs Alliance), which has entered in to a collaboration with CII (Confederation of India Industry). EnAble India is also the placement cell for PwDs, for Government of Karnataka.

History EnAble India is a registered charitable trust. (Registration No: 394/1999-2000). EnAble India is a non-profit organization working for economic independence and dignity of persons with disability; founded in the year 1999 by Shanti Raghavan and Dipesh Sutariya. HIGHLIGHT: Shanti has received National Award for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, 2010. The award was conferred by the President of India in December 2010. She was selected as a fellow of the Ashoka Foundation in 2005. Our Mission Enable India's mission is to empower persons with disability. This is founded on the firm belief that persons with disability do not need sympathy -- they need a supportive environment to grow and fulfill their needs, potential and dreams. Who we are • Evangelist, creator and provider of the world class computer training for the visually impaired. o 200+ visually impaired candidates trained every year • Researcher of new job roles for persons with disability with innovative workplace solutions o Open up 50 – 100 jobs annually o 291 Job roles mapped to 19 disabilities across 27 sectors in 35 different functions o Collaborate with 600+ companies across 25 cities in the private and public sectors across India o Developed 50+ workplace solutions to help persons with disability work effectively and efficiently at par with their colleagues • Worked on capacity building for trainers and organizations, leveraging technology solutions o 40+ trainers and institutional partners enabled annually • Developed large volumes of content and tools to help standardize and scale the awareness and development programs o Content development for computer literacy for visually impaired, employability training across disability and inclusion and diversity enabling modules created for employers. o Developed unique training and development methodology with the core belief of transforming an individual. • Pioneers in creating and conducting programs for inclusion of persons with disability in PSU and government organization. o Partnered with State Bank of India, identified 47 different tasks, enabled over 357 employees of SBI with visual impairment and 119 with hearing impairment. Coaching over 20 trainers of SBI. Our work EnAble India is considered a pioneer in employability and employment of persons with disability. We work towards enabling a person with disability to fulfil his/her dreams and aspirations by helping them to discover their inner potential. We cater to the needs of all kinds of disabilities such as visually impaired, hearing impaired, physical disability, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, mental illness, learning disability, multiple disabilities and more. Building a pool of employable candidates: Every company and every employer want employees who can perform the job with the required efficiency and quality, and with the right attitude. We believe that each person with disability has this potential and can be an asset to the company. Candidates benefit from our training programs recommended based on their skills, attitude and aptitude. Paving the way for employers to hire persons with disabilities: EnAble India provides holistic solutions and services to companies who employ persons with disability. We conduct Disability Awareness Workshops in companies to overcome mind-set barriers about the capabilities of persons with disabilities. Further, hiring persons with disabilities promotes a diverse workforce and creates an inclusive organization. Developing workplace solutions to overcome challenges: At EnAble India, we believe that any person with disability can do any job with a feasible workplace solution and an enabling environment. A workplace solution uses a combination of (a) Assistive Technology or aid, (b) New work process/method of doing the job and (c) innovation. This helps to bridge the gap between a person's disability and the job requirements.
