About This Cause

WHAT ARE WE DOING? Seven Clean Seas is committed for reducing the volume of plastic pollution entering the marine environment in the top seven worst plastic polluting countries globally (Jambeck et al., 2015). Seven Clean Seas recover plastic from the marine environment with a focus on the nearshore, offshore, coastlines and mangroves ecosystem whilst employing and formalising the informal sector of waste management. In addition to this, Seven Clean Seas provide plastic waste collection services to households and businesses in rural and island locations where traditional waste management was not previously collecting plastic. Seven Clean Seas develops facilities where collected plastics can be aggregated, sorted, bailed and for further processing to create a circular system where it didn't exist before. Seven Clean Seas is working with multi-level stakeholders to synergise the effort with the national action plan. Seven Clean Seas has targeted to collect 10,000,000 kilos of plastic by the end of 2025. The goal is twofold, to facilitate aggregation and sorting whilst simultaneously engaging local stakeholders to learn about plastics, local conservation and responsible waste disposal to ultimately build circular systems. WHERE DOES YOUR SUPPORT GO? Your support builds lasting plastic pollution prevention systems and supports Seven Clean Seas to focus on formalising a workforce from the waste management sector which typically has extremely high rates of modern day slavery. With the money we have received from our partners so far, Seven Clean Seas has been able to support individuals with jobs and begin building circular plastic systems in rural and island locations.
