Mission Statement
Yayasan Bumi Sehat’s mission is to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality and to support the health and wise development of communities. We are devoted to working in partnership with people to improve quality of life and to improve peace.
About This Cause
Yayasan Bumi Sehat offers a comprehensive range of birth and maternal health services: pre and post-natal maternal health care, breastfeeding support, infant, child and family health services, nutritional education, prenatal yoga and gentle, loving natural birth services. In 2021, our four clinics had 728 births, 6,077 prenatal checkups and 24,590 instances of general medical care. In Bali, our acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic is staffed by licensed acupuncturists trained in both adult and pediatric acupuncture and treats a wide range of conditions. We run weekly specialty clinics for children, stroke recovery and people with disabilities. In 2021, our acupuncturists delivered 2,696 treatments. In Bali, our on-site lab offers STD screening, as well as blood, pregnancy, COVID-19 and tropical disease testing. We offer a testing and counseling program for HIV positive patients and their families, as well as a “See and Treat” cryo-therapy cervical cancer screening and treatment program. We are launching a Menstrual rEvolution program to distribute reusable menstrual pants to help girls manage menstruation and stop “period poverty.” Our medical teams run remote health check-up programs in Bali, Lombok and Aceh, as well as medical disaster response for natural disasters across Indonesia. We provide educational grants for teaching, nursing and midwifery so that young people from poor families who wish to serve their communities have access to the education that will make this possible. Our Youth Center in Bali offers free English, computer, and organic gardening classes to local Indonesian teens.
