About This Cause

WALK supports people with intellectual disability to lead self- determined lives within socially inclusive communities. WALK work on individualised outcome-focused supports that allow service users to live a life of their choosing in accordance with their own wishes, needs and aspirations.WALK is a progressive organisation where people who have intellectual disabilities are supported to live self-determined lives within socially inclusive communities.’ WALK is fundamentally about a better society, about more supportive and inclusive communities, and enhanced lives for everyone; our core values and beliefs extend beyond the area of intellectual disability and into the community in general. Our main aims include • Provision of comprehensive and progressive system person-centred services • Empowerment of individual leading full and active lives • Promotion of social inclusion through engagement with embracing and receptive communities • Building relationships, sharing learning, and promoting our values and beliefs to all stakeholders Walk was founded in 1967 by a group of concerned citizens and has grown over the years into an organisation which offers a range of high quality services to over 400 people with disabilities. WALK is a progressive organisation where people with intellectual disabilities are supported to live self-determined lives within socially inclusive communities.
