Mission Statement
One in four people in Ireland experience sexual abuse. It might be you, someone you care about or someone you're friendly with. At One in Four we provide individual and group psychotherapy and professional guidance for people who have experienced sexual abuse during childhood. The demand for our services continues to be very high, and we make sure that every person who reaches out to our small organisation gets the help they need. Our expert services are available for those in need; our work is about intervention in the cycle of abuse; our vision is an Irish society where children are safe from sexual violence.
About This Cause
Our vision One in Four professionally supports men and women who have experienced sexual abuse during childhood. Our aim is to reduce the incidence of sexual abuse by intervening in key areas of the cycle of abuse. We do this through psychotherapy, advocacy and prevention services. Why we exist In Ireland research has shown that one in four children (27%) will experience sexual abuse before the age of 18. Despite well publicized scandals and reports, many Irish people remain unable to respond to this problem and the long term damage it creates individually and at societal level. Our determined aim is to change this. One in Four Ireland is a registered charity (CHY 15289) with offices in Dublin, Ireland.
