Mission Statement
Amma Ireland is the Irish branch of Embracing the World, a global network of regional humanitarian organizations inspired by the India-based humanitarian initiatives of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Embracing the World exists to help alleviate the burden of the world’s poor through helping to meet each of their five basic needs — food, shelter, healthcare, education, and livelihood — wherever and whenever possible. We are especially focused on helping to meet these needs in the aftermath of major disasters. With the vast majority of our efforts carried out by volunteers, and zero paid administrators at the national and international levels, we’re able to do more with less. This combined with an ethic of personal renunciation demonstrated by Amma and filtered down to every level of the organization ensures that the funds raised directly reach the beneficiaries of our projects, instead of being dissipated in administrative overhead.
About This Cause
Amma Ireland endeavours to help relieve the suffering of those in need by supporting the international poverty relief work carried out by the Embracing the World global network of charitable projects; and by supporting people in Ireland through local initiatives designed to increase the peace of mind, and the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of all. The activities of Amma Ireland are inspired by the teachings of Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma) and aligned with the Embracing the World global network of charitable projects. Empowerment of people of all ages, through informal education and community outreach projects, in line with the teachings of Mata Amritanandamayi and the activities of Embracing the World. Hosting visits of selected international speakers & representatives of Embracing the World. Encouraging self-empowerment and development of moral and personal values through participation in regional groups. Preservation and conservation of the natural environment and promotion of sustainable development & biodiversity through development of green initiatives.
