We work to eliminate avoidable blindness, fight disease and promote the rights of people with disabilities.
About This Cause
Our vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes, and where people with disabilities participate equally in society. We prevent sight loss and avoidable blindness in some of the poorest parts of the world by treating conditions such as cataracts and fighting debilitating eye diseases like trachoma and river blindness. Sightsavers works in more than 30 countries worldwide, focusing on Africa and Asia. We partner with local, regional, national and international organisations, ministries, governments and non-governmental organisations. With their help, we distribute treatments to prevent disease, carry out operations and eye examinations, advocate for disability rights and strengthen health systems to create sustainable development projects.
