Mission Statement
MISSION STATEMENT OF CORK ANTI-POVERTY RESOURCE NETWORK To work towards creating a new society of equality between men and women, of respect between all people and nations; equal access to the wonderful resources of the universe – social, cultural, physical and economic. To work in a way which, by our own practice in terms of commitment, clarity, generosity and mutual sharing, creates a process and role modelling among working class, marginalized people, who are at the core of what our project is about. Cork Anti-Poverty Resource Network seeks to develop a multi-faceted and a multi focused response, with diverse groupings such as Write Together Adult Literacy Scheme, Cork Women’s Action Group, Mná Feasa Domestic Violence Project, Young Women’s Group and Paisti @ No. 3 Childcare Facility, which challenges the marginalization, poverty, social exclusion and constricted life chances for a large minority of the working poor and social welfare dependents.

For the last 40 years CAPRN (clg) has been helping individuals and communities across Cork and especially the Northside, to support, motivate and encourage people to make the changes needed to better their lives and the lives of their children into the future. Poverty still effects the lives of many in our communities. We work with people in the following ways: We teach adults who never learnt as children to read and write We work at different levels to support safe, healthy, respectful relationships We support young women to be better mothers to their children We give information to people about their rights and entitlements We run a community based crèche and childcare centre. We encourage older women in the community come together to support and inform and link up with older people isolated in their communities CAPRN needs your help. Will you become part of the solution and help us in our work over the next 10 years? No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated. Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Education is the great engine of personal development Nelson Mandela (2013)
