About This Cause
Brú Youth Service (BYS) was established in 2008, in the subsequent period, BYS has worked to raise the consciousness of young people and empower them to navigate the inequalities they experience. BYS is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth (DCEDIY). That funding is administered by City of Dublin Youth Services Board (CDYSB). It is open to young people aged 10-24 and who are living within the catchment areas of Crumlin and Walkinstown. Youth workers use a targeted approach to identify those who need of support. Young people who attend the service usually participate in open sessions that are age specific and run weekly. Brú Youth Diversion Project (YDP) is a specialist programme focussing on making positive decisions and diverting young people from criminal activity. Referrals come from a Juvenile Liaison Officer, Community Gardai, self, or local agencies.
