Mission Statement

Ballyfermot Family Resource Centre aims to promote and enhance the personal, social, educational and economic development of the individuals and families who participate in the activities of the centre. The provision of a wide range of integrated services and activities support the development of individuals and families at all stages of their lifecycle.

About This Cause

We currently provide the following services; • Community Creche and after school for children from our community (72 children) • Community Café – “Cup and Spoon café” is a not-for-profit café. We provide healthy eating options at low cost, as well as a range of other community benefits such as reduced social isolation, skills development and increased local spending. • Dementia Café & Choir - In collaboration with Kylemore College music school, HSE and Dublin City Council • Meals on Wheels - assists vulnerable people in the Ballyfermot community who were experiencing difficulty preparing and cooking a main meal for themselves. • Professional Counselling for teenagers (free of charge) (2020) - in collaboration with Kylemore College. The School identified a need for ongoing counselling supports for second level students. However, the formal mental health (and GP-referral only) CAMHS, and the National Education Psychological Service (NEPS) were both limited in capacity and resources to address these counselling supports. Referral come from teacher, parents and the students can self-refer. • Professional Counselling for Adults (low cost) – Part funded by Tusla • Warm Room - a safe and welcoming space, which people can attend regularly free of charge to keep warm and enjoy a hot drink – In collaboration with Dublin City Council. • Drop in clinics – 1. Saoirse, Domestic Advice Clinics, 2. Dublin Simon Community, advice to individuals experiencing homelessness. • Digital Literacy Programme - The training is aimed at older people who are new to using computers with the objective of building their confidence to find information and services online that may be of interest to them as well as maintain social connections online. • Provide training and meeting facilities to local groups and statuary agencies such as Alcoholic, Narcotics and Gamblers anonymous, various social clubs, afterschool for traveller children, Tulsa training for foster parents, parenting programmes, Parent & Toddler baby massage etc.
