Victim Support at Court

Dublin 7, Leinster, D07 N972 Ireland

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for victims of all types of crime, their families or witnesses while they attend court.

About This Cause

Victim Support at Court, or V-SAC, is the only voluntary service in Ireland who specialises in to court accompaniment for victims of crime, their families and witnesses. Our court accompaniment and support services are free, confidential and available to anyone who has been a victim of crime. We are an independent organisation but work closely with other organisations in the criminal justice sector, in particular An Garda Síochána (Irish Police) and the Courts Service of Ireland to provide the best service possible. We know how daunting and difficult coming to court can be. Our service is committed to making the court process less intimidating for victims and witnesses, giving them a safe space where they can be apart from the general public and we can provide a listening ear if they need it. Having someone there just for them means they are empowered to enter the courtroom, knowing they do not have to go through the whole experience on their own. Our trained volunteers offer: * Someone to talk to in confidence about the trial * Information about An Garda Síochána and court procedures * Help in dealing with other organisations * Information about victims’ rights and the criminal injuries tribunal * Information on other sources of help
