Mission Statement
The overall mission of Learning Hub Limerick is to create an active learning environment that extends the learning experience beyond the traditional school-day; and to creatively embed technology and the core skills of literacy and numeracy into active learning projects; as well as to provide a positive social environment that inspires us as individuals and as a community by recognising the potential and the talents of young people and learners in order to prevent early school leaving and raise educational aspirations of families, schools and the wider community. Learning Hub aims to work in partnerships with key stakeholders and various agencies to provide support to children identified as most in need of additional social, cultural and educational resources, to maximise these resources, and to make them available to the community. Learning Hub's mission is to create an environment that promotes the positive development of physical and mental health among young people and the community. Learning Hub Limerick provides volunteers and third level mentors with real world civic engagement experience that will enhance their social, academic and professional development while simultaneously harnessing the resource potential of these volunteers to act as mentors and subject experts in our educational programmes and the further development of the Hub. and utilising volunteers, resources and energy for the development of the Hub. Learning Hub Limerick strives to develop and maintain high quality governance and operational standards thus support the sustainability and longevity of Learning Hub Limerick.
About This Cause
As an educational charity, The Learning Hub works in partnership with parents, education providers, statutory agencies and the wider Limerick community to provide a safe, welcoming and inspiring learning environment where young people can reach their true potential. Last year over 30,000 visitors came to the Learning Hub to engage in various activities and to use our facilities. On average, we serve over 150 children each week with many involved in multiple activities during and after the school day ends. We prioritize children attending local DEIS schools but aim to reserve over 40% of our place for children from other areas of the city attending non-DEIS schools as well. We have a waiting list for many of our after school programmes and registration happens in early September each year. We are based in Kileely. We are 10 mins walk from the city centre and have a wonderful view of the Shannon.
