Mission Statement
Our mission is to be the Ukrainian voice and action in Ireland.
About This Cause
We are a registered charity (CRN 20206588) set up in response to the biggest humanitarian crisis in Europe since World War II caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Our organisation was formed by a group of dedicated Ukrainian and Irish volunteers, who came together with the aim to help Ukrainians in need and to foster Irish-Ukrainian friendship. Our priorities: 1) Contribute to integration of Ukrainian refugees into Irish society, strengthen and diversify local communities 2) Advance Irish-Ukrainian cultural and educational collaboration 3) Provide humanitarian and life-saving relief to Ukrainians experiencing hardship In the first hours of the invasion, we set up a hotline, information website and social media for Ukrainian refugees seeking protection from war in Ireland, reaching out to as many as 230k people daily in the first months of the crisis. We continue to actively engage and provide important, relevant and up-to-date information to Ukrainians on government services, activities for refugees, language learning and employment opportunities, Irish culture, history and other important information for integration into a new society. In May 2022, we were the first organisation in Ireland to conduct a Survey of Ukrainians and to give our community a voice to express their situation, challenges, needs and to thank the government of Ireland for protection. In June 2022, we partnered with the Irish Red Cross to open the first Ukraine Community Center in Dublin which became a safe space for Ukrainains to come together, socialise, learn, engage and feel a sense of community. For many people who had to flee their homes, this Center is a home away from home and gives them sense and purpose in life. Our volunteers organise the biggest rallies in support of Ukraine in Dublin bringing together thousands of people to show their solidarity with Ukraine. We support the organisation of most important events for Ukrainians: Ukraine Independence Day, Day of Ukraine's Defenders, commemoration of Holodomor, etc. To support smooth integration of Ukrainian refugees in Ireland, to show our gratitude to the local communities and to bring people and communities closer together, we organise community cleanups, visits to museums, hikes, bake sales, reading clubs, learning workshops and other community-building activities. We are committed to helping Ukrainians who remain in Ukraine and who face hardship. On a daily basis, volunteers of Ukrainian Action collect, pack and send to Ukraine most needed humanitarian and life-saving aid. We organise a collection of warm clothes, power banks, food and generators for the cold winter period. We also encourage people to donate equipment that could be used to rebuild homes that were destroyed by the bombs and artillery in liberated areas of the country. We partner with other organisations and volunteers to find and deliver ambulances, evacuation cars and medical equipment which is so much needed in the areas of active fighting. Finally, we promote modern, brave and resilient Ukraine in Ireland and the world. We remind everyone that the war is still going on and every day people in Ukraine are being bombed, but once the war is over and Ukraine is united within its borders and rebuilt, our country, people and culture has a lot to offer to the global community.
