Mission Statement
East Cork Rapid Response provides voluntary pre-hospital emergency medical care to the East Cork community
About This Cause
The East Cork Rapid Response(ECRR) is a registered charity that provides a variety of emergency medical support services to communities throughout East Cork. For a number of years now our critical care doctor has being supporting the emergency services in the region on a voluntary basis 24/7. When called upon by the National Ambulance Service, Doctor Hugh Doran will endeavor to response to an incident in the charities purpose build Volvo response vehicle. These incidents are almost always to critically ill or injured patients. Typical call outs are for cardiac arrest (when somebody’s heart has stopped beating), road traffic collisions, farm or industrial accidents to name but a few. Once on scene our Doctor is trained to provide many life saving interventions such as pre hospital anesthetic, which is used for patients who may have suffered severe brain or chest trauma. In the event of somebody suffering a cardiac arrest in a local community, time is of the essence. Early high quality Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is the key to ensuring the patient has the best chance of survival. With this in mind ECRR has equipped 6 off duty Paramedics in the area with hi tech defibrillators. These paramedics receive an automated text alert to any cardiac arrest in their community and are often on scene within minutes. In addition to this service we also provide CPR and AED training to community groups on request within the East Cork Area. We have also helped set up and train a Community First Responder group very sucessfully. There are other community groups due to come on board to avail of this training. Thus insuring the continued chain of survival. All our services are funded by voluntary donations from the local community and local businesses.
