The Central Remedial Clinic's mission is to working together to make a positive difference to the lives of people with disabilities, their families, and carers. It is our vision that people with disabilities achieve their potential and live full lives as equal and valued citizens. We have a number of core values that guide our work. People are at the heart of what we do; our clients, their families and carers, our staff and volunteers. We value the trust placed in us and at our core are the principles of openness, respect, empowerment, and excellence.
About This Cause
Since our founding in 1951, the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) has become one of the largest and most progressive providers of services to children and adults with disabilities in Ireland. We offer expert care, education, training, therapy, and support to nearly 4,000 children and adults all over the country. Our clients live with a broad range of physical, intellectual, and sensory disabilities and our services address a wide range of needs; we hold over 36,000 clinical sessions every year, teach over 160 pupils in two special schools, and provide day services, training, and education for roughly 300 adults across several Local Centres in Dublin. Our children’s services have two main divisions: regional general disability services in Dublin City and County and specialist multidisciplinary services to children with physical disabilities in every county in Ireland. Our clinical services team works with parents and families to make a positive difference despite the challenges that can come with disabilities. We offer specific medical and clinical services for children, young people and adults with disabilities through the life cycle from birth to adulthood. Our National Specialist Services teams provides a range of specialist medical, therapeutic and assistive technology services to children and adults with complex disabilities and rare conditions. We use innovative medical and surgical interventions and evidence-based therapies to support children and adults to achieve their maximum potential. Our support reduces the impact of disability on the individual, improving their quality of life and health outcomes. Our Adult Services operate from a number of local centres across Dublin and are built around individualised and group supports as well as education and work preparation. For our Adult Services, our aim is to empower our clients to claim their human rights and advocate for change, and we work together to make a positive difference so people with disabilities achieve their potential and live full lives as equal and valued citizens. The CRC is one of the largest community organisations working directly with people with disabilities. We are led by our clients to deliver our services in the ways that suit our clients best and help people with disabilities live their lives as active, valued members of their community.
