Mission Statement

Barnardos, the children’s charity, was set up in 1962 in order to support vulnerable children in their families and communities. Our mission is to transform the lives of vulnerable children because childhood lasts a lifetime Barnardos’ vision is to ensure all vulnerable children in Ireland get the support they need to overcome childhood adversity.

About This Cause

Barnardos work with children from birth to 18 years of age as well as with their parents and carers. Barnardos provides practical and emotional supports to children and adults in its 56 centres, in families’ own homes, through the school environment and within their communities. Some of these services are Early Years intervention and services, Home Maker services, dealing with domestic or substance abuse, social skills work, after school services, breakfast clubs, Wizard of Words reading supports, Bereavement services, Post-Adoption services, Roots of Empathy school programme, all working with individuals and families to improve the outcomes for children. In 2023, with the help of our supporters, we worked with over 26,000 children and their families to assist them in creating a better life for themselves.
