Mission Statement
To provide a nurses clinic in our new Centre in the village. In the new Centre to carry out the following as well as the nurses clinic: Open a small art area and local arts and crafts for sale. Sell second hand books. Provide a tourist information Centre for the local area. To set up a small museum to be organized and run by our local historical society. To change the steps into the building to a ramp to make access for disabled and elderly.
About This Cause
We are primarily a Nursing Association providing the members in our parish with nursing procedures if and as needed. We sponsor a fully qualified nurse and chiropodist for 10 hours per week to carry out these procedures and to check on the isolated, elderly and vulnerable in our parish. She also gives injection and provides dressing where necessary. We get a small grant from the HSE and we have to fundraise for the rest of our expenses. Recently we acquired the use of Castletownshend former Garda station and house which we have gradually been painting and decorating and installing toilet facilities and generally revamping as it was in a very poor state having been vacant for several years.
