Mission Statement
The Daughters of Charity were founded by St. Vincent de Paul in France in 1633. Today there are approx 16,000 members working throughout the world
About This Cause
The Daughters of Charity came to Ireland in 1855 and have been providing services for people living on the margins of society throughout Ireland. The Province of Ireland supports the work of the Daughters of Charity services for people who are poor in the following African countries. Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana and Burkina Faso. The Mission Development office and voluntary committee members co-ordinate fundraising projects and events. The coordinator visits each of the overseas projects on an annual basis to monitor projects and ensure that funding from Ireland is used as specified. Reports and receipts are produced for all donors and audits in Ireland and overseas are carried out on an annual basis. The coordinator also organizes volunteer overseas placements and capacity development training.
