Mission Statement

· The child is at the centre of every action within the school and decision taken by the school. We work in partnership with parents. As the primary educators of their children, parents are regarded as a vital part of the educational team. The positive relationship of our staff with the children, with each other, and with parents is fundamental to the implementation of good educational practice in our school. ·The promotion of Christian values is the basis of the moral development of the child and Christian principles guide all Teacher/Pupil relationships. ·Essential elements in the creation of a pleasant teaching and learning environment are mutual respect, trust and co-operation among staff, parents, children and the wider community. It is our aspiration that, in this atmosphere, the moral, academic, aesthetic, social, physical and emotional potential of each child can flourish, her self-esteem be enhanced, and rightful dignity be accorded to each person.

About This Cause

Mary Help of Christians is a Primary School which caters for girls from Junior Infants through to 6th class and has approximately 375 children on roll. Our school dates from 1848 and was one of the first National Schools in Ireland. It was originally located in the Phoenix Park, where The Phoenix Park School is now situated. At that time, it was called St. Philomena’s School. As the parish of Our Lady Help of Christians grew, the school moved to its present site and was renamed Mary, Help of Christians. Our school motto is: Creideamh, Dóchas, Grá.
