Mission Statement

Our school is a centre where empathy, justice, compassion and joy find expression. Each child is an individual and will be treated with respect, dignity and kindness throughout his/her stay in our school.

About This Cause

Setanta School is a co-educational day school and is temporarily located in Dublin 12. We are a school for students aged between 12-18 years with a diagnosis of autism. Our students also present with secondary diagnosis such as ADHD, OCD, PDD, Epilepsy and many sensory needs. We have 65 pupils enrolled in Setanta School; maximum 6 students per class, teacher and 2 SNAs. We implement a low arousal approach in our school environment, being mindful of eye contact, tone of voice and body language in all our interactions with students and staff. We implement the national curriculum, L1LP and the L2LP Junior Cycle Programmes. We also use our local community as much as possible to create incidental learning experiences for our students, e.g. learning to cross the road, using public transport, food shopping etc. Our aim is to teach our students functional life skills and to make our world easier for them to access.
