During Yad Vashem's 60th anniversary year, we redoubled our efforts to act as a force for Jewish continuity, and enhanced our commitment to work for the protection of basic human values undermined during the Holocaust. About This Cause
As the Jewish people’s living memorial to the Shoah, Yad Vashem was built on the Mount of Remembrance in Jerusalem in order to safeguard the memory of the past and impart its meaning for future generations. Established in 1953, as the world center for documentation, research, education and commemoration of the Holocaust Yad Vashem, through its International School for Holocaust Studies, sets the global standard for Holocaust education and is a dynamic and vital place of intergenerational and international encounter. Yad Vashem's state-of-the-art Museum Complex is acclaimed as one of the most important museums in the world. For over six decades, Yad Vashem has been meeting the challenges of Holocaust remembrance. By virtue of its name, Yad Vashem has been entrusted by the Jewish People to collect the names of all the Shoah victims and is renowned worldwide for this unique and successful initiative. Yad Vashem has been charged to represent the Jewish people who did not forget those who stood with them at their own risk and has the exclusive responsibility to recognize the Righteous Among the Nations. Yad Vashem is committed to strengthening Jewish continuity and the basic human values that were undermined during the Shoah.
