Mission Statement
The mission of StandWithUs Israel is to educate students and the general public about Israel, and to prepare others to become educators themselves. As an international, non-profit organization, StandWithUs has become an active Israel advocate on 183 North American campuses, as well as utilizing “cutting edge” educational tools in print and social media. The Israel office, located at 26 King David Street in Jerusalem, serves as the international office for StandWithUs and oversees the Israel Fellowship program, which is a nationwide leadership development program on 7 Israeli campuses.
About This Cause
College students are confronting increasing anti-Israel activities on campus and doe not have the resources or training to respond effectively to this propaganda and misinformation. The StandWithUs’ mission was, and remains, to fill this vacuum. StandWithUs grew quickly because of the need to combat the growing anti-Israel global movement. StandWithUs began as a volunteer organization, but within a year became a professionally led 501(c) 3 organization. Today, StandWithUs is an international, nonprofit organization that supports Israel through informative and inspirational educational print and online resources, as well as “hands-on”, interactive training programs. Serving as an active Israel advocate on 183 North American campuses, as well as on social media, StandWithUs is actively countering this distorted misinformation and has become a strong advocate for Israel. The Israel office serves as the international office of StandWithUs and created the Israel Fellowship ten years ago. The goal of this nationwide Israel leadership development program is to empower young adults to be informed, active and dedicated leaders. Each year, 180 graduates become effective and articulate “ambassadors” for Israel in the field of public diplomacy. Fellows will speak in various North American communities, as well as on university campuses. Indeed, these devoted citizens are Israel’s “ambassadors” of tomorrow. The following programs and accomplishments reflect the focus and efforts of StandWithUs Israel in 2016: • 1,500 outstanding young adult Israelis have graduated from our unique Fellowship program, empowered to be effective future ambassadors for Israel • In the first 18 months of operation in our new Education Center in Jerusalem, we were able to involve 15,000 international students in classes and seminars, thereby educating them to be more effective advocates when they return to their respective campuses. • The Israel office hosts high profile and influential missions to Israel. Our goal is to seek innovative groups, who have large spheres of influence. These have included the top Instagram photographers from around the world, up-and-coming journalists, female tech entrepreneurs, student government leaders and even Roseanne Barr. • StandWithUs Israel oversees our involvement in social media. Our weekly Facebook post “reach” hit a peak of 1 million people / per week and we are active in 18 different languages, including Arabic. • In 2015, the Israel office launched “StandWithUs Asia”, which created a series of online movies in Chinese, titled “8,000 km” (distance between Israel and China). Highlights include hosting events and missions from China and South Korea; sending “start-up” Israel entrepreneurs to take part in outreach speaking tours in China.
