The Hadassah Neurim Youth Village, located on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean near Beit Yanai beacj, is an educational institution that includes a boarding school, four-year high school, technological college, and enrichment center. The village was established in 1948 by the Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency and is managed as an independent non-profit organization. For over seventy years, the Youth Village has been a warm home for thousands of teenagers from around the country and the world. Today, about 600 students are educated in the Youth Village, 410 of which are boarding school students who view Neurium as their safe, loving and supportive home. The Youth Village is a unique community that provides a comprehensive educational-social-enrichment environment, leading to a rich and progressive life experience. Our educational work in the Youth Village, including our comprehensive support for our students, their exposure to diverse fields of knowledge and the elevating of our students sense of self-esteem enabled our students to succeed and achieve goals that they never imagined. Over 90% of our high school graduates enlist in the IDF, join pre-military training, volunteer for a year of service or they continue in the course of continuing technological studies and upon completion are recruited into leading IDF units and from their, have the ability to succeed in society. The boarding school students and the non-residential students choose to study here in order to have an equal opportunity to acquire an education and to study for a full, partial or technological matriculation certificate. The boarding school and college students come from all over the country and thenon-residential students come from their homes in the immediate vicinity. Village campers[students?] have round trip transportation from central locations. In 2017 85% of the graduates finished school with a theoretical matriculation certificate and/or a technological certificate. The Hadassah Neurim Youth Village operates the “National Center for Athletics” a surfing center as well as dedicated training courses for the IDF, mechatronics, robotics and more. Athletics Since 2001, the village’s Track and Field Excellence Program has been operating collaboration with the Israel Track and Field Association, giving outstanding youth the opportunity to develop their abilities in the field of high-achieving sports, train professionally and fulfill their potential. Currently, about 25 scholar athletes participate in the program who combine sports training and studies with the boarding school. More About the Youth Village Dog Therapy Shelter There is a rehabilitation dog shelter in the village. At this kennel, the students learn to train the dogs, most of whom come with a background of various behavioral problems or were previously strays. The goal is to bring the dogs to a level where they can integrate well into families who will adopt them and to care for dogs with appropriate data for guidance and medical needs. The students who participate in the program learn both the theoretical aspect and the practical aspect of training and caring for dogs to arrive ready for the matriculation exam. The contact with the dogs is also beneficial for the students from a mental and behavioral point of view and with the help of the dogs they open up emotionally, and solve problems and make new friends on all fours and twos. Surfing Center Because of the village’s idyllic location overlooking the sea and Neurim Beach, it is natural that our students take full advantage of the wonderful natural resources. . A few years ago, a surfing club called “Havat Ha Galisha” was established in the village. Its main activity is with the boarding school students and includes training about 80 students in the format of courses at the levels of beginners, advanced and team. The marine activity includes the educational values of perseverance, determination, safety, and group responsibility as well as enrichment classes and additional fitness training as part of the village’s concept of sports education. The marine center allows all youth village students to engage in water sports and integrate informal marine education into the educational framework and agenda of the boarding school. The surfing center has an open and special atmosphere, where the students can spend the hours after school, and be exposed to the world of surfing and water sports. https://neurim.org.il/en/youth-village/about-the-village/
