About This Cause
HELP US TO HELP THE WAR SURVIVORS IN UKRAINE. NATAN IS DIRECTLY INVOLVED WITH THE UKRAINIAN GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE THE POPULATION RESILIENCE. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO CREATE TRAUMA AND COMMUNITY COORDINATION CENTERS IN UKRAINE. NATAN WORLDWIDE DISASTER RELIEF is an ISRAELI based non-profit NGO who brings aid to the survivors of natural and human-made disasters—wherever and whenever they occur. With a team of 850 experienced professional volunteers comprised of medical doctors, nurses, dentists, mental health workers, social workers, logistics experts, and teachers, we are prepared to deploy at a moment’s notice. Teams of our volunteers close up shop, pack, roll up their sleeves and travel to where the need exists. The NATAN mission: When the need is there, so are we. • NATAN is unique in that it is made up exclusively of experienced professionals who offer their valuable services strictly on a volunteer basis. • Our volunteers—Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs—share a strong desire to help, which is why they are ready to “run towards the fire,” not away from it. They represent the very best of Israel society. • NATAN responds immediately when disasters occur. Often we are the first to arrive at the site of a disaster. • We attend to individual needs while helping communities recover and become more resilient. • We help disaster survivors, refugees and displaced people with their mental as well as physical wellbeing. Collaboration: Critical to our record of success is our collaboration with other international and local NGOs. Each brings needed skills and resources; and local anchoring guarantees a project’s sustainability. When the initial crisis has passed, NATAN often continues to work with local organizations to improve the population’s resilience. To be ready for the call, we recruit and train volunteers, purchase equipment including mobile communications and medical technology, and acquire medications and drugs throughout the year. Refugees: Venezuelan refugees in Colombia. The center in Cucuta for refugee women streaming through across the border not only offers medical, psychosocial, dental aid for women and children, but provides a place of sanity for people whose lives have turned upside down. .Post Disaster Community Rehabilitation and Resilience: Partnership with an American NGO working on building schools and health centers after natural disasters, NATAN’s psychosocial and medical trainers are helping the population rebuild their lives and the community strengthen their resilience. 2021: Guatemala, 2022: Nepal Dental Care for Women at Risk: Our dentists, equipped with an advanced mobile dental clinic, provide care to excluded populations, GBV victims housed in shelters , and refugees. Governance: NATAN Executive Board comprises 15 members, elected by the General Assembly. The Board is currently chaired by Danny Kahn. The Advisory Board is composed of 8 chosen members. The executive Board is currently chaired by Alan Silberstein. Finances: Our all-volunteer structure means that funds are used only for logistics and supplies, making the organization exceptionally cost-effective. Every mission is different, but costs typically range from $40,000 to $150,000. Current annual budget is $300,000. Funding is provided primarily by our volunteers, by individual donors in Israel and the US, and by limited institutional grants, all for specific projects. We fund our projects ad hoc but we are seeking to put $200,000 in a reserve fund so we will be able to respond more readily to the frightening increase of disasters around the globe. NATAN is a Registered Israeli Non-Profit organization (amuta: RA 580526424). NATAN is recognized in the United States for 501(C) tax-deductible donations. NATAN is acknowledged by the Israel Ministry of Justice for good governance ( certificate valid until 12/31/2023).
