Mission Statement
IMAGINE was founded by a group of young people who came together to promote the agenda of empowerment and therapy through music for various populations in need for positive and inspiring experiences. IMAGINE aims to enable, teach, create accessibility, nurture and develop musical abilities with populations of various disabilities. We believe that music empowers and connects people, improves and changes lives.
About This Cause
Music is an international language that overcomes differences of religion, race, sex, socio-economic status, age and civil status Music has healing and strengthening powers for various populations and it provides a basis of treatment and education Music is an excellent platform to work on social skills and reduce the sense of loneliness The revolutionary perception in the field of music therapy today is the Community Music Therapy: work with a group who becomes involved in the community and inspires it. Musicing is the foundation of this approach, combining cultural and community aspects, and it directly improves the sense of health and welfare of all patients. We believe that Israel, just like other places around the world, needs a community-focused therapy perception and a way to bring the musical qualities of these populations to sprout outside the treatment room. The Activities of IMAGINE We provide services of music education and empowerment in the community (schools, retirement homes, rehabilitation centers etc). These services include: Annual programs for children, youth and adults with disabilities (long term program 30+ meetings short term program 10-20 meetings) focusing on teaching, enabling, creating and empowering through music with various populations. These programs include also music classes for children and youth with disabilities and their families (parents & siblings) Special one-time activity focused on creating, facilitating experience and empowerment through the producation of a music video clip with various groups. The IMAGINE Toolbox a nationwide program for music excellence within the special education schools. This unique program aims to upgrade and enrich both the tools and the teaching methods of teachers and workers in the field of music in special education. Dis-Co-Tech - (disability-communication-technology) a yearly Hackathon which focuses in finding breakthrough and innovative solutions to musicians with disabilities. Imagine Festival - a yearly festival, held in different city each year, in which groups of musicians with various disabilities play along side Israel’s leading artists on one stage. This event is the highlight of Imagine's yearly programs nationwide and is an amazing symbol for inclusion and eqality. Target Populations The association’s activities are aimed to meet the needs of many populations with special needs, as we believe that anyone can be a part of musical creation and enjoy fundamental personal benefits thanks to music. These populations are: children and adults with disabilities (impaired hearing, impaired sight, autism, mental impairment, disability, behavioral problems etc), PTSD patients, youth at risk, immigrants, elderly people etc. Objectives Establishing a nationwide network: south, centre and north, and serve populations with special needs in every city, thus creating unique community work in the field of music teaching and empowerment. In the long run, IMAGINE wishes to establish creational, musical centres to empower special populations in the community. The centres would work all day long and host different groups with special needs who would experience various musical activities. The centres would become home to artists and musical ensembles and provide recording services and room for concerts and rehearsals. IMAGINE aspires to regularly employ, at the activity centres, young people and adults with disabilities (as sound technicians, secretaries, cashiers, accountants) In addition, the association will use volunteers at the centres and other places where its community work would take place. IMAGINE aspires to become the leading organization in the field of music therapy and education for people with special needs in Israel and even form comprehensive academic research about these populations throughout its projects. IMAGINE cooperates with municipalities, ministries, public corporations and other associations in order to create matching programs, promote resource pooling and optimally use the available space.
