Mission Statement
The Mission of the G.S.A. - Gruppo Solidarietà Africa is to promote the health and social development of the population of Sub-Saharan African countries, through material and training support to health protection activities and the promotion of the social development of rural and urban communities.
About This Cause
The G.S.A. is constituted in Onlus (Non-profit organization of social utility) on March 27, 1998, adhering to the norms of Legislative Decree 460 of December 4, 1997. The organization consists of doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and researchers in the scientific field of health. The organization develops socio-health projects to support the activities of religious and lay centers established in the territory of Sub-Saharan African countries, especially those facing the Gulf of Guinea. In these regions, the widespread presence of infectious diseases (such as malaria, measles, typhus and AIDS), the low size of the health care network in rural areas and the lack of advanced means to deal with diseases, make even the least health problems extremely dangerous. For this reason, the G.S.A. supports activities already underway and promotes new ones in the necessary locations based on the diffusion of specific health needs, in contact and compatibility with local state institutions (over 70 development projects up to 2018, some completed in the short term, some others still running according to a long-lasting development program). The sending of diagnostic materials and machinery, the technical assistance and the updating of the intervention methods, as well as the complete training of local health workers with the most advanced health techniques, is the main activity of the G.S.A. In parallel, the establishment of an awareness of the value of health and the dissemination of good practices in the city and rural population are the social commitment of the organization, to encourage the prevention of social and health contexts from whose degradation is encouraged the spread of illnesses. The activity is sensitization and fund-raising of the G.S.A. in Italian territory is detailed in the organization and promotion of scientific dissemination and in the growth of awareness of the needs of international development among the Italian population.
