Mission Statement
Emporio Rimini is a supportive supermarket for people in a situation of economic hardship. It is a community project that unites public and private subjects, involving citizens, businesses, associations and institutions. The leader of the Emporio Rimini project is the Voluntary Association Madonna della Carità . It looks like a real supermarket with shelves, food products and shopping carts, and it is a distribution point completely free. The Emporio is aimed in particular at families and people in economic difficulty as well as that new class of workers who, despite having a job, live below the poverty line (the so-called working poors) that, beyond to the fatigue of material sustenance, they risk weakening their network of relationships. It intends to offer a concrete possibility to overcome the situation of "crisis" and to allow, therefore, to increase their level of empowerment. Disadvantaged people can access using a points card, and the points are awarded based on the composition of the family unit. Emporio Rimini is not just a supermarket, but also a place for meetings and relationships where it is possible to activate different forms of solidarity through the commitment of volunteers.
About This Cause
The Voluntary Association Madonna della Carità was born in 1992. It involved 200 volunteers and cooperates with Caritas Diocesana in Rimini. Together with the Social Cooperative Madonna della Carità delivers social welfare activities to homeless, refugees, poor people and disadvantaged family. It is inspired by the christian values of charity, solidarity, sharing and immediate help to face emergencies. The association addresses: poor and marginalized, immigrants, ex-prisoners, homeless people, nomads, refugees, asylum seekers, women victims of trafficking and violence, families in need. It takes care of internal training for volunteers, especially for younger ones. It organizes public conferences and events related to the most urgent social issues that change from year to year, focusing on the themes of solidarity, sharing, peace and justice. It collaborates with the social workers of the Municipality of Rimini, the AUSL (Regional Health Services), the parishes and other voluntary associations; manages the Voluntary Civil Service project. It is the leader of the Emporio Rimini project (the supportive supermarket for disadvantaged people and families to give them concrete answers). The Association Madonna della Scala collaborates with the Operative Center of the diocesan Caritas, carrying out the following activities: a listening center, for all users who express their needs to which an immediate response is given; a daytime canteen service and first reception accommodation services; a shower service; distribution of clothing, food and food packages; delivery of hot meals to elderly and lonely people; Emporio Rimini management to disadvantaged people. The association, in collaboration with the Social Services of the Municipality, also coordinates the Immigrant Services Center (Csi) in Rimini. The Center deals with: provide immigrants with tools for the use of social-welfare services in the area; provide assistance in social, cultural and protection of rights through legal advice; identify support routes for immigrant families with children.
