Mission Statement

Happydu ETS (from february 2024 is not anymore Onlus cause of the third sector reform in Italy) has been dedicating for years to humanitarian projects in Africa, mainly in Namibia. Our focus is the education of vulnerable children and teenagers, providing kindergarten, afternoon classes, sport center and leasure activities for the entire underserved community. From 2010 we have been supported 900 children, developed 14 projects, financed 3 surgeries. In 2022 we inaugurated and opened a new project "Happydu Village Renata Mondesa" with the aim of supporting education and the right to food of over vulnerable 160 children and teens.

About This Cause

Happydu's aim is to improve the quality of life for children. We assist vulnerable children, teenagers, and the broader community living in very poor conditions. We provide essential goods, healthcare, and quality education to give them a real chance at a better life. Through education, children learn to think, reason, and act in other words, ‘to live’ both as individuals and as members of a community, fostering change aimed at improvement, development, and growth. Children have the right to start dreaming again. We believe that new ideas can emerge through the exchange between different cultures; this is why we don’t propose solutions but instead try to find them together with local people, who understand their reality better than we do. Our main project is called HAPPYDU VILLAGE RENATA MONDESA: we inaugurated it in January 2022. Happydu Village Renata has become a point of reference for the community and a gathering place for more than 220 children and teenagers living in the neighborhood, in addition to providing employment for many local people. The project includes two kindergarten classes, two pre-school (grade zero) classes, and two grade 1 classes, which were inaugurated in January 2024 after receiving all approvals from the Ministry of Education in Namibia. In the afternoon, we offer classes from grade 1 to grade 10 to support learners with homework and lesson reviews. Each child, learner, and employee receives one meal per day from our kitchen, which means preparing over 4,000 meals per month. The project operates 7 days a week to provide a concrete response to the lack of recreational facilities, especially on weekends when alcohol and drug abuse threaten the lives of many teenagers. Through sports (volleyball, soccer, and karate) for physical development and music for emotional growth. Our goal for 2025 is to continue supporting our grade 2 children by adding two classes for grade 3, allowing us to provide ongoing assistance in their education, nutrition, and care. Our dream is to complete the construction of an entire primary school, which in Namibia consists of 7 grades. The neighboring community is deeply grateful to Happydu and all its supporters for their remarkable commitment over the years to the most vulnerable people on the outskirts of Swakopmund (Mondesa – DRC).
