Mission Statement
The Association is a non-profit institution and was established for a charitable purpose and has the objective: 1) to promote any type of initiative aimed at improving the assistance and care of paediatric patients with an onco-haematological disease; 2) to promote initiatives for the strengthening of the relations between parents, family, and the family’s doctor and the doctors at the Paediatric Oncology-Haematology centre; 3) to promote information regarding paediatric onco-haematological diseases; 4) to inspire, encourage and fund scientific research in the field of paediatric oncology and haematology; 5) to promote the collaboration between national and international paediatric oncology and haematology centres; 6) to make more people aware of the existence of national networks of assistance centres for patients suffering from onco-haematological diseases; 7) to urge institutions to educate and train clinic and hospital staff for a correct assistance of children affected by onco-haematological diseases; 8) to enable both public and private institutions as well as the community to find a solution to the problems concerning children with onco-haematological diseases. To achieve the intended purposes, the Association can perform some of the marginal commercial and production activities specified in the Italian Ministerial Decree of 25/5/1995.
About This Cause
A.G.E.O.P. RICERCA ONLUS is a non-profit organization has been operating since 34 years in the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Policlinico S. Orsola-Malpighi od Bologna (Italy). AGEOP has non-profit purposes; It is established for charitable purposes, to ensure the care of children with cancer and Research in the fight against childhood cancer. A.G.E.O.P. operates in the following areas: - Scientific Research: employs 5 biologists and 3 medical researchers in agreement with the Local Hospital Organization - Hospitality for families: manage #3 hospitality houses, accommodating #100 children under therapy period and their families, each year - Support: offer constant economic and psychological support to children and parents through specific projects - Psycho-oncology: employs #2 psychologists in order to give support to children and families during the difficult cancer experience - Volunteering: envolve selected qualified volunteers. The sujects of all these activites are the pediatric patients, with cancer (hematologic or oncologic), in therapy at the Unit Hematology and Oncology of St. Orsola-Malpighi Hospital of Bologna (Italy). The scope goes beyond the local territory, hosting also regional, national and foreign patients.
